So i just went and see the Hakim video in question, and while it was passable, especially the part about IMF, it’s indeed the part about history that was lacking, but i have the feeling that in opposite direction this dude think. Hakim glossed over the most political history, missing the dynamic in global relations of Ukrainian governments and its consenqences, never commented on the madness of Yushchenko-Timoshenko kleptocracy and never mentioned all the next rounds of shock therapy Ukraine and especially Donbas suffered including the one which caused exodus comparable to the 2022 one, but in 2014.
And he low key accept at least some major parts of western propaganda on Maidan, Russia and Yanukovych and bothsides the war.

My thoughts exactly. If anything Hakim is either purposely trying to pander to western viewers or genuinely doesn’t know any better. I know people want to believe it’s the former but i think the latter is more likely. I have seen no indication that any of the Deprogram trio have done serious investigation into what has been happening in Ukraine since 1991 beyond a shallow surface level overview. Time and again we’ve seen well meaning leftists fall for some of the elements of the western pro-Ukrainian propaganda narrative when they do not do their due diligence to educate themselves thoroughly on a subject before they speak on it.
