Moldova, who together with Ukraine last year received the green light to start accession talks with the EU, has the second-lowest GDP per capita in Europe.

“The Marshall Plan was designed to show to an exhausted continent that capitalism and democracy were a better way forward than anything offered by Communism. Today’s modern version will also need to offer similar hope to those of us working our way towards EU membership,” Sandu added.

Sandu’s call echoes similar calls for a ‘Marshall Plan’ for Ukraine made last year, both by Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as well as by a number of EU member states.

Capitalism didn’t work and we never got democracy. But the same applies to the fascism with communist branding prevalent in Asia. A new plan is definitely needed and actual communism should have aspects on the table.

Frankly, if the target conditions were closer to Nordic-style social democracy instead of trying to shape countries into “smol America” like what was done to a degree with the Marshall Plan, it’d probably work out better for Ukraine, Moldova, and the EU in general.

The allies gave us germans a stronger constitution than they themselves have as far as I understand it.

I think we should support Ukraine when the war is over, but we first have to support them in winning it.

Abso-fuckin-lutely. Really wish we could kick out all of these goddamn quisling politicians that everyone seems to be going out of their way to not see how they’re mostly linked to Russia.
