The clearest problem is if Trump and his planners have this idea of using “maximum pressure” to bring both sides to negotiate towards a Korea situation freezing of lines then if Biden has already escalated all the way up to toeing the line of where nuclear weapons are used then logically Trump has nowhere left to escalate in his pressure campaign.

I agree this probably isn’t the most effective sabotage but it’s perhaps an attempt based on Trump’s rhetoric and that of his advisors to take away additional steps and leverage from him to encourage him to continue it.

However, many if not most Russians are persuaded that negotiating with the duplicitous West is asking to be betrayed. Given America’s openly two-faced conduct in Palestine and with China (among many example), there’s ongoing confirmation of these concerns.

I like how they don’t bring up the elephant in the room here which is the west’s past, admitted duplicity on the Minsk agreements which are directly relevant as they involved deceiving Russia to buy time for Ukraine to be armed to hurt Russia. That bad faith history alone rules out any trust on Russia’s part for a negotiated peace with NATO that leaves a sovereign Ukraine that hasn’t constitutionally committed to renounce a standing military beyond a paltry force and other measures to satisfy Russia.

Probably the war continues burning a bit before kind of winding down with a collapse it feels like but what happens at that point I don’t know. I fear NATO countries deciding to get involved and drawing a line in the sand in Ukraine, setting up positions and declaring Russia will not pass that given point and providing shelter to create a Nazi-loving Bandarite regime destined for NATO in the west. If they think they won’t get nuked there is a good chance they’d go for it. I hope they believe they will and don’t do so but this whole thing has been a showcase of western hubris and foolishness so I wouldn’t be surprised either.
