The problem is that by not scoring points he’s putting the WCC is jeopardy. Both McLaren drivers are scoring points. The only logical thing RB can do is flip DannyRick and Perez. But, there is no telling if Danny can perform any better.

Is this what sainz is waiting for? I know their dad’s have bad blood, but what other good options are there? (Unless they give Alonso a multi year contract…)

People keep saying about how their dads hate eachother, but Jos and Horner also hate eachother, so I honestly don’t see Christian giving a shit, especially if it means he gets a solid second driver.

Just remains to be seen whether RB wants Sainz or whether they want someone who definitely won’t even attempt to battle Max, imo

Maybe, though I understood the reason RB renewed Perez in the first place was because they were afraid Carlos and Max competing each other would lead to a Gasly-Ocon situation, so he may be waiting for a seat that will never be offered to him.

No disrespect to sainz but he is no equal to max while gasly and ocon are perhaps the most equally matched line up in the grid. While there is a real risk of Carlos and Max competing with each other to the detriment of the team, that is because Carlos is close enough to max. Gasly and ocon on the other hand are so equally matched that they end up sharing the same real estate on track in almost every race

Silverstone was not entirely his fault, but when you are never performing you can’t absorb the effects of the unexpected. Tough situation for him.

I mean getting stuck in the gravel during qualifying was his fault. I understand the conditions were traitorous but Max proved that it was entirely possible to not do a 180 but pass through the gravel pit.

With such a bad result the team needed to gamble to get a meaningful result.

I mean, sure, he might have been screwed by the strategy but it was an easy call for the team to gamble at that point because he was still stuck at what, 16th? It’s not like he was making up positions and soaring up the field. His pace was just weak all weekend (again). Just look at his attempt to deny Sainz fastest lap and reclaim it for Red Bull at the end. He was just slow.

The rumor I’ve heard, which may or may not be hearsay, is that Checo needs to be within 100 points and 5 places off Max in the WDC by Spa to keep the seat. If that’s the case it’s almost impossible for him to get there after an abysmal weekend at silverstone.
