I don’t get it, what’s the point in having removable back, screws, screwdrivers if you cannot remove and replace the parts.

This is exactly what I was thinking.

I’ve been planning on getting a fairphone next, and didn’t know they had a competitor, and then after watching the review realized they didn’t have a competitor.

features with a high degree of customizability - you can swap out the back cover, and also attach things like a lanyard.

Ooooh, a lanyard strap… That’s the sort of right to repair we’ve all been after.

Nothing phone is such a fucking joke there are 0 replacement parts available. I broke my camera a few weeks after I got my nothing phone 2 and your only option is to ship the phone to the UK. The advertise as consumer friendly but that couldn’t be further from the truth.

I was kinda hoping a modular phone would have a headphone jack module of some sort.

Non-removable battery and lanyard strap is enough I guess…

Does this phone have an SD card and headphone jack?

If not then I’m not buying it.

Tbh I have an ipod classic and I don’t use it as much as I would like even having a good set of cans because the wire becomes annoying to me after short time so I’m actually going to mod it to add Bluetooth

How does it being 2024 justify not having a headphone jack. Most other phones competing with the phone 1 do have a headphone jack fyi.

Because smart people started switching to Bluetooth back in the mid 2000-s. Because wires suck big time. It’s 2024 now, there’s absolutely no reason to use wired headphones.

As a person who’s been using Bluetooth headphones almost exclusively for the last 5 years, 99% of them fucking suck regardless of the price range

I’ve had a pretty good experience with them, personally, but mine are a relatively expensive pair

But for wired headphones, usb-c headphones seem to be the modern de facto standard

I know this is true, but it’s dumb as hell. The difference in thickness between a usb-c port and headphone jack is millimeters, and a good pair of wired headphones is still a good pair decades later. No need to upgrade the connector unless you’re making money off selling usb-c headphones.

It’s not like it hurts bluetooth users to have a headphone jack they won’t use.

If people are buying this instead of other repair-oriented brands like Fairphone, then they’re not concerned about repairability but price.

Fairphone isn’t available in many parts of the world. CMF’s sales are boosted a lot by it’s presence in India where Fairphone is not an option.

I’d love to buy a Fairphone. But sadly it is behind in so many features, that I simply can’t.

-no water proof (sadly a requirement in my profession)

-no wireless charging (why? just why? There is no good reason for them to not include that, especially as it is finally adopted by a lot of spaces, e.g. in airline seats, etc.)

      • mediocre camera

I counted the days towards Fairphone releasing the featureset of the Fairphone 5 and was so disappointed.

I am up for other recommendations, though. The first person to name google will be downvoted, though. I literally wrote my lawyer yesterday as they are treating service cases in a illegal manner.

They really aren’t: it’s just going to add a little thickness, weight, and cost to the phone. Screws and gaskets aren’t exactly rocket science.

pc watercooling blocks are mostly just orings sandwiched in grooved plates and screwed together. leaks are usually elsewhere. hardest part would probably be accomodating ports. we could even be totally cursed and make it wireless charging and bt audio only and fully seal it and have no speakers.

It is the phone everyone deserves but should not be the one you want. It only creates more waste without being reparable.

In my opinion this an amazing looking phone that I could use without a case, if needed just buy a new back and stick it to the phone. For me the only problem is the lack of NFC (no Google pay). Strange move by Nothing to not include it.
