  • Finally caught up with this series.

One thing that stands out in this episode is the beautiful poem by Osada Hiroshi that Kurushima recited. Turns out the inclusion of such a long scene in the anime is by the author’s request: it was supposed to be in the life-action TV drama adaptation years ago, but on the day it was scheduled to be filmed (2011-03-11), the Tohoku earthquake happened; they were not able to film it and it was cut out.

It is a pretty good adaptation overall I think, even though many things are cut out from the source material due to length. (The source manga is 21 volumes long and we are at around volume 8 & 9.) I certainly enjoyed it very much. I still don’t know why they decided to re-adapt a series from 20 years ago but I am glad it happened.

  • I thought they agreed to tell the world that Rimuru and Hinata’s fight ended in a draw, but I guess Dwargon is pretty good at information gathering that they were not fooled.

Since last episode we get a new opening song, with visuals of (what I presume is) the upcoming festival.

Ramiris is still so funny and her VA gave some excellent voice acting. The usually calm Treyni acts really, really differently around Ramiris and spoils her rotten. I forgot she’s not a subject of Rimuru; she helps and cooperates with him in the interest of the forest, and as a friend I guess.

The elven nation Thalion’s emperor Elmesia El-Ru Thalion is introduced. She seems quite impressed with Rimuru’s economic sense. We also get a glimpse of how much a doting parent Erald is, which Elmesia took full advantage of.

Meanwhile, Rimuru got the idea of asking Ramiris to create a dungeon and run it as a tourist (adventurer) attraction. Ramiris is delighted to lose her unemployed shut-in status.

We also have a new ending song since last episode, showing Shuna in a modern Japan setting.

  • First, the meta-comment:

As you might have noticed, Rikka was not able to handle this show’s batch release and only created the thread for episode 1.

Thanks @wjs018@ani.social for helping create this post manually. Since there was not much engagement for this show so far, I only asked for 1 more post instead of posts for every episode to avoid cluttering the community. You can comment on episodes 1-12 under this post. I hope spoilers would not be too much of a problem since all episodes of this season are already available.

I am not sure Rikka will do with the next season, also being a batch release. If you have any idea how it should be handled, comment here or send your opinion to wjs018.
