    A few highlights:

[…] Biden’s exit tweet landed has been one of overwhelming relief, as if the entire party just passed a collective kidney stone. […]

[…] Forty-three percent of U.S. voters said in a survey last year that both [Trump] and Biden were “too old to effectively serve another four-year term as president.” And within a few hours of Biden’s announcement yesterday, clips began circulating on social media of Trump in recent months appearing confused, losing his train of thought, and mixing up basic facts. […]

Voters will certainly have questions—or should. Trump has released minimal data about his physical and mental health. He measured 6 foot 3 and weighed 244 pounds at his White House physical in 2020, with a body mass index classified as obese.

    Emphasis is mine.

Quite a colorful description of how democrats feel now that Biden has passed the torch to Kamala, and it also highlights the fact that Trump is old as dirt and is already exhibiting some of the same symptoms of cognitive decline Biden is.

Old people are at the root of many of our current problems. It has been prophesied that if we can solve the old people problem, we would enter a golden age of prosperity.

They are also extremely reliable voters.

At least in the US, our culture has changed significantly since they were young and the world that influenced their values during their formative years really no longer exists. Since the 1950s, LBJ passed the Civil Rights Act, women can open their own credit card accounts, the Soviet Union collapsed, Americans are becoming generally less religious, a black man became president (for two terms!) and gay marriage has been legalized. It’s no wonder so many of their beliefs are outdated and not shared by the youth.

Of course, there are plenty of older folks that are open minded and want to leave behind a better world the next generation and understand that times have changed. Many of these older folks were instrumental in these tremendous achievements we achieved over the last half century.

However, those older folks are not the problem; there is a significant contingent of older folks that desperately want to “restore” the world that they grew up in and those ones tend to be very politically active and therefore have outsized influence on the country’s elections. These are the ones who form a significant base for the republican party and the fact they resent so much of the progress we’ve made is extremely unnerving.
