I’m disappointed there will be a subnautica 2. I thought below zero basically ruined the lore of the planet and architects for me. Imo, the planet is done. I don’t care about what happens there anymore. The architects are no longer mysterious or interesting to me after

. I think it’s a huge shame the team is cash grabbing a third entry as opposed to starting a new unrelated title in the same genre.

I realize I’m probably in the minority, good thing down votes don’t matter here.

I gave up on Below Zero around the time you’re given the blueprints for the hover bike. I just could not get invested in whatever linear narrative they were trying to push, so I put the game down and haven’t touched it since.

It feels like the devs captured lightning in a bottle with the first game but couldn’t figure out what exactly made it so popular and fun to play. It certainly didn’t do them any favours when they got rid of their composer Simon Chylinski. His score was so important at setting the tone.

Subnautica is one of my favourite games of all time and it kills me to know that we won’t get another one like it.

The incredible map with deep oceans and rewarding exploration are what made it popular. I cant think of another game that makes you WANT to be in the water. Hard to replicate that, but turning the ocean into a puddle and making half the game land-based certainly didnt help.

I concur, the music score for the first game was a cut above the rest. I also found myself utterly unable to gain interest in the sequel. I think I tried on two occasions to get into Below Zero.
