I’m kind of okay with this. It was a reasonable take – not a hot take or an incendiary comment or something. Mods using their power to shut down discussion – expected on that instance I guess ;)

This is my first time getting any sort of ban on any lemmy instance. Now I just need to get banned on a right-wing server for some other centrist take, to keep balance in the universe ;)

How many of you have experienced this on lemmy.ml?

I don’t even know if my instance is federated with them, all the better if not imo.

We aren’t, I’m still confused how an instance without any NSFW communities is “full of porn” lmao

I’ve had cases where I got Hexbear dogpiled, so my comment got deleted. However, the mods still kept the dogpiling comments and I was still getting responses because obviously hexbear was brigading.

Yeah, that’s how I found out I was banned. Tried to reply to a reply.

I just commented on how Ibis just seems like its destined to be misinformation hub, so maybe I’ll be joining you soon. I got banned 2 months ago for this comment against Hamas (Of course, without ever getting a notification) :

What does a terrorist group sacrificing Palestinians for the palaces of their leadership who assault and kill people in an international music festival dedicated to peace have to do with a famous politician and anti-apartheid activist who did his best to do things the right way? Stop gaslighting with terrorist apologism.

The instance is deep into the disinformation game, to the surprise of no one. They saw Reddit doing this and said “Hey, we need to be doing this, too!” I’m now fairly convinced this is the reason they are investing in developing lemmy (and now Ibis). They win, they get to be one of the top instances and the control that means for their communities. They lose, lemmy is still going to be vulnerable from the code base, ghost instances, and hydra-tic participants.

I routinely catch permeant bans from liberal comms/instances for being left of hitler, you can handle a 3-day warning shot for warhawking.

Now I just need to get banned on a right-wing server for some other centrist take, to keep balance in the universe

Are you going to have your “aha” moment when that doesn’t end up actually happening? Or are you just going to conveniently forget.

Based on your tone here, I checked the modlog for your username (Lemmy is great for this! How did we ever survive on Reddit) and my suspicions were confirmed…

Rule 2 prevents me from calling you what I want to call you, but yes I will agree that the mod log being public is amazing over reddit.

Don’t bother trying to reason with fascists, they’re not in it because they’re wrong, they in it because they like the wrong.

I don’t see anything wrong with what you wrote. And what the hell is “western chauvinism” really? Eastern Europe and Western Europe are simply not THAT different culturally.

The only thing I would actually add to your comment (which would obviously get me banned) would be to say that vetoes should not be a thing in NATO…for ANY country.

Yes. And Australia. And often South Korea, although one can debate their inclusion in this group.

I mean, it’s right in the wikipedia article. Wikipedia didn’t make it up. This is largely the consensus use for this term in political circles.

Other potential candidates for inclusion might be Indonesia or Mongolia, but they are not usually included for economic reasons.

Hoorah, welcome to the club! It is a badge of honor really. I use a separate account to have some discussions on .ml but in the mean time I added lemmy.ml to my instance blocklist and Lemmy has been wonderfull since.

A big issue seems to be that users looking for worldnews get their world news instead of world at lemmy.world…

And yes I sometimes have discussions on .ml as I think some of the extrimist idolization needs to be called out. So that if normal people see such comments they can also read a dissenting viewpoint.

And every now and then, just to tell a tankie that the Uyghur camps are real… Getting banned and doing it again.

I once got banned for “BlueAnon nonsense”, and I still have no clue what that means.

Oh, boy… when the mods over there are calling me the same names that Marjorie Taylor Green uses, I know I’m on the right side, lol
