Where did they take it to an individual sense? You’re being a “pickme” and arguing for respectability politics. I vehemently disagree that trans people need to make ourselves and our rights palatable to non-queer folks.

Pickme to me means someone that always tries to steal the spotlight, an individual (though I’m not too up to date on my buzzwords admittedly).

I also agree trans people don’t need to cater to others, but also we don’t need to be dicks cause yeah that’s just gonna enforce peoples bias’ - leave that shit to reddit/twitter.

I’m absolutely going to be a dick to cis people invading our space. I do hope you get over this hangup though

Yes, and as it applies to talking about respectability politics, it refers to someone who goes out of their way to make themselves palatable to non-queer people for the purposes of being “one of the good ones”.

And you’re still doing it with this “leave that shit” line. Like, I don’t go out of my way to be a dick to folks that are genuinely curious and want to learn more. But someone who waltzes into a space that’s for trans people and runs their mouth? No, I will not be polite to them. Telling me I should has the same energy as an old man telling a woman to “smile more”. So, please kindly f*ck off.

I feel you have a lot of previous assumptions about my viewpoint, and are more angry at your construction of me than what I’m actually saying

            …leave that shit to reddit/twitter.

No, no I’m upset at what you’re saying and it’s implications. There honestly isn’t much I despise more than queer people telling other queer people how to react to cishet people’s aggressions. I personally find it more insidious than the aggressions themselves.
