We’re going to be making another attempt at shipping DNS leak prevention for third party VPN apps. The last attempt resolved a lot of the compatibility issues with the previous approach, so we’ve made some progress. We don’t what’s wrong with Proton VPN and certain other apps.

Funny, I only notice dns leaks in the per SSID DNS settings. I have to be connected to wireguard so that my DNS server stays my adguard server (hosted on my local net) otherwise my ISP DNS leaks.

Do you have “block all connections without VPN” enabled in android setting? Do you have have VPN in use for multiple profiles? Sms and voice over wi-fi are not routed through VPNs on main user profile.

The VPN doesnt leak my ISP dns. But yes I do have block all connections without VPN enabled.

The DNS leaks through when I set settings in the “static” internet settings on the main profile.

My setup is a wireguard VPN on my personal network, which utilizes locally hosted adguard and pihole servers. I check for leaks at https://www.dnscheck.tools
