Chill is back in the air. On the way to a moooovie (MIFF film) even though I have this assignment to do… But I wouldn’t have gotten anything done tonight anyway as it’s been a big day at work… I think my guilt/anxiety over the assignment is what’s caused me to have nasty dreams of teenage woes (had another dream after the one of my mum screaming, with an uncle telling me I wasn’t allowed to watch Suits. Which is weird as I’ve never been interested in watching it anyway and that uncle was relatively lenient)

It’s okay to have a bit of a life outside of work and uni 😩 can’t sustain my psyche otherwise…

In good news though, I passed my probation at one of my jobs today and got a 9% pay bump (they kind of tend to lowball in the first 3 months then do more after. Even my boss admitted it was “embarrassing” what I’d been paid so went beyond the upper range of what I was thinking). The annual equivalent is the highest I’ve ever been paid in my life so far - would finally take me past the PHI tax threshold lol - and it is so much cruisier than my previous job, so I am feeling pretty chuffed about that. 🥂

edit: I also negotiated one day less per fortnight so I kind of end up the same financially but with more time so that’s not so bad at all 😎

Bad nightmare taking me right back to my teen years being screamed at by my mother over trivial things… The sense of fear and feeling trapped woke me right up :( not now, brain.

They came out to install that gate thing yesterday, which took me by surprise. They did say it would be installed this week, but I didn’t believe them. But then it happened, so that’s cool I guess.

Unfortunately they didn’t install any electrics or motors for it, and it’s on a fairly steep hill, so it just opened itself every time I tried to close it. I was able to find some old bed slat thingies and wedge those between the gate and the fence. Looks ghetto AF, but it worked and provided some safety.

Unfortunately today they came out to try and install a motor, but they forgot a part or something so it doesn’t actually… Motor. Unfortunately in the process, they’ve put it on same chains and gears that can’t be moved when the motor is off. So now I can’t actually close it.

They’ll come to install it some stage next week, but it basically leaves me in the same position as I was 2 days ago over the weekend. And I can once again enjoy the constant baseline anxiety of old mate coming back again.

It has now been 39 days since I returned and had to deal with all of this garbage.

Edit: I should be fair to them. In 39 days they’ve purchased 1 security camera

I just ate a cheese kransky in a baguette with hot english mustard and t-sauce having a radox bath… and… i’m fundamentally a different person now.

I did not expect that on the bucket list… it will remain permanently on the bucket list I’m not crossing it out.

International politics/current affairs musings. Feel free to disregard:

idiot shows his lack of foreign affairs knowledge
    • How long do you think before Fox News turns on trump? looking more and more like hes gonna lose, continued support is only gonna lead to civil unrest which I am sure they dont care about, but they would care about looking like they supported a loser.

-I sort of understand why they arnt doing it, but I would love to see Ukraine call a snap referendum in Kursk about leaving the Russian Federation and joining the country of winners instead. I hope this incursion leads to things calming down and putin signing an agreeable treaty, but I doubt he is gonna go down quietly.

    • I cannot WAIT till the EU shows its teeth and puts its boot up Elon’s ass. How quickly he threw on the victim mentality shows how pathetic he really is. Love seeing bullys get smacked down.

The whole Trump saga will be interesting. If he loses, he knows he’s done. Court cases and verdicts looming. He might fuck off to another country.

His extra moron followers will martyr themselves for him, and in 12 months only the absolute loonies will still carry on about him.

Elon is acting tough in public, but will cower like a kitten in courts. He’ll pay the fines, and then some to probably keep shit quiet and on his platform he’ll announce victory.

Twitter will be mostly dead in a while unless he leaves.

I dunno, I think the porn and nazis probably hold it together for a while.

Oh yeah, but it’s not going to be influential and broad as it was. The niche demographic can only sustain it for so long.

I try my hardest to avoid all things US politics, and I still feel saturated by it. I don’t click on articles about it, I never click on Google or YouTube links about US politics.

Yet, somehow my feed is still regularly seeded with the stuff. I have no idea what the algorithms do to people who engage with that content, but it’s got to be some next-level doom scrolling.

I have retired to bed, like a boring old fart. Everything is too loud after work in an occasionally quite noisy factory. Sometimes when I come home and I’ve done all my jobs (dinner etc) I can’t wait to leave the living areas of the house. Everyone’s enjoying themselves being noisy with Xbox and tv and I’d just be a killjoy asking people constantly to turn it down. I need peace and quiet to recharge and relax, and it runs counter to everyone else in the house doing their Friday thing.

If I go out on a Friday night of course it will be a little loud but if I stay home I like no drama and quiet enjoyment.
