I ran a very small hiking sub over on Reddit, I don’t feel the community here is big enough yet for a new instance so we’ll just keep building CT up.
The DEEP has a pretty decent website that includes a list of all the state parks and forests with pdf trail maps.

They also run a family friendly event every year called the Sky’s The Limit Challenge where over the season you go and hike various state park and forest trails. Take a few pictures at key spots and send them in. Complete 10 of the 15 hikes and you earn a hiking medallion for your hiking stick. Complete all 15 and you’re in a drawing for 1 of 50 hiking sticks. We have a beautiful state and you’ll be amazed at what is available close by. Go check it out!
