Got home not long ago from my weekend adventure. I’m tired. Here’s a photo from Woolshed Falls from this morning for your viewing pleasure.

Wasted $36 on an ink cartridge that was the wrong one and I had already opened it when I realised. Really kicking myself. That would’ve been a week of coffees or a nice dinner or several days food. Grrrr. Between this and the $200 fine and uni fees due tomorrow I’m glad I have a pay rise coming up. Sigh. I’ve been in muuuch worse financial situations so I just gotta forget these things and move on.

That sucks. Ink is a rip off. Is there any possibility you could sell it on eBay for a slightly reduced price to recoup some of that?

Though the postage and hassle might not be worth it

Literally giving it away online for free (because I hate wasting things), but nobody’s gonna want an opened one I suspect. There’s no way of telling that all the ink is actually in there…

Honestly would’ve been cheaper to just go and print all my stuff at officeworks or uni with how much I’ve now spent. But I will suck it up because it’s one less barrier to my INCREDIBLE inertia at efficiently getting uni stuff done. I can print out stuff any time I want now, no excuses about libraries not open or not wanting the hassle of loading stuff on an usb to print.

I saw on Twitter someone mentioned there are browser addons for Chrome/Edge that put historical prices on Coles and Woolworths websites, and I know it’s not super groundbreaking to highlight how specials aren’t really “special”, but it does make for some interesting insights. e.g.

This pasta has been “on special” for 53 days. Isn’t that just the normal price, at this point?

And we’ve all noticed the products that go on special every other week, but seeing it in graph form really makes you wonder what the true price of your laundry detergent is:

They extensions arw called “Coles Trend” and “Woolworths Trend”. I’m not sure how long they will work though before they get blocked/banned/disabled somehow. (Would personally love a version of this for the likes of Chemist Warehouse, it’s always so tricky to figure out whether their discounts/catalogues are real or not.)

I’d been buying a slab of My Dog at Coles for $27 for awhile (full price). I go in there, see a “Special” ticket for $27, have a look underneath and it says $28. You sneaky cunts.

I’ve seen it the other way around at woolworths.

It’ll have a ticket that says “everyday low prices.”

The ticket under it will actually be cheaper by 20-30%.

        Those fuckers!

          SPECIAL $25 save 15c

I don’t know if Woolies do this but on the Coles docket it tells you how much you “save” like Chemist Warehouse does. Patronising pricks. 😠

This came up in the 4 corners episode on supermarket price gouging. There’s no way laundry detergent is worth $20 so half price is just a brief stint at how much it should cost

I’ve thought in the past that they seem to alternate “special” weeks, and also that Woolies and Coles take turns having a thing “on special,” but seeing this in graph form is certainly enlightening.

Think I slept for nearly 12 hours there. zzzz… Today and tomorrow are my last chances to get my uni stuff done and not sink into old patterns of guilt and shame. I’m going to make it work. Getting out of bed now so that I don’t loll around for hours…

I’m 100% for gun control but if you drive a hemi full fart past residential housing at 5am on a sunday people should be allowed to shoot at you.

Went to the farmers market this morning and stocked up on mostly unnecessary but very tasty items. It was lovely to wander about in the sun, and there are always plenty of dogs to admire.

Then, when I came home I bit the bullet and cleaned out my plastics cupboard. Got rid of all the superfluous and unmatched things and have a more usable cupboard as a result.

Trying to get some work done to lessen the load for tomorrow but I’m procrastinating. Especially with the sun being out and all.

I am similarly struggling with uni… Contemplating printing out some papers to read and amnotate, without the distraction of screens

        Sounds like a good idea.

Are you able to concentrate while having music or something on or is it too distracting?

Maybe a nice cuppa of something on the side as well to make it relaxing.

I was really expecting this weekend to be raining and grey and dark.

        It’s shown me otherwise!

I still hold a grudge against Aldi because of a rude checkout person there when they first opened. They are with OPSM on my “refuse to deal with” list 🤣

Ha, aldi is so cheap (and have food high quality enough) that they could punch me in the face while they’re throwing my knockoff Pringles at me and I’d still go back

I got them slightly cheaper from Catch.com. You have to buy a few packs at a time with them to get the best price though - which at least means I don’t have to shop for them again for another 6 months or so!

I took a nap at about 6 and woke up again around 8, that was a bad nap. I felt (and still feel) worse and more tired after waking up than before. I got the lovely trifecta with extra tiredness, a bad headache, and feeling really really really thirsty after waking up

Apparently the bank processed my dispute and sided with me though, so that’s nice. And as with pretty much every step of the process, they told me it will be returned to my account within 3 days, unless it isn’t, in which case it will be returned in a period of time which is not 3 days
