Yes. It should be fucking illegal to go on public tv and just blast provable demonstrable lies as if they’re the truth. Doubly so if you’re considered a public official or a “news” source.

It goes back to which groups decide what is labeled ‘lies’, ‘truth’, ‘disinformation’, and’misinformation’; at the end of whatever is decided, we the working class are the ones that are effected the most with more restrictions on our right to speak our minds.

This is in addition to the censorship being done by social media companies and the billionaires pushing for more surveillance of the working class.

Demonstrable lies relates to being able to prove that they are lies. I believe that people should be allowed to lie all they want, but I also believe that our trusted (ha!) news organizations no longer call any of our politicians on those lies. Even when they do, they couch it in softer terms.

          I agree.

Due to the above, I think people should also read and watch independent journalists, in addition to just absorbing owner-class media, so we can see diverse narratives and framing from others.

It’s funny, I usually find you insufferable and difficult to understand, but I think we are in agreement on this at least.

Oh, hahaha, it is not on purpose; I continue to try to improve my communication skills so that happens less often.

              Thanks for letting me know!

I have not blocked you because you are clearly quite intelligent, even though I often disagree with what you say. I am very much interested in your conflicting views.

“the sun will not come up tomorrow if you vote for my rival”

This is demonstrably untrue and should lead to fines and prison sentences for those who utter it in a public forum under the guise of news or as a public figure. There are literally thousands/millions more like this.

I disagree, we the people should be able to speak our minds, especially those we do not agree with.

“Once a government is committed to the principle of silencing the voice of opposition, it has only one way to go, and that is down the path of increasingly repressive measures, until it becomes a source of terror to all its citizens and creates a country where everyone lives in fear.” – Harry S. Truman
