    Biscuits complete!

I am giving a bag with one of each type of biscuit to my family, plus a tub full for my Mum and a tub for each of the two teams I am with at work. Plus a smaller container for me.

    Biscuit selection

    All the biscuits

I’m unaccustomed to having no responsibilities. I pulled out the work laptop one more time earlier and then put it back.

After the period of unemployment, in which life was awful and I had no purpose, it’s strange to suddenly have “acceptable” free time. Paid even!

arghghhghhg slept in lounge because we’re still separating cats, proved once again that I can sleep through anything by waking up to a giant pile of cat puke next to head. Strip the jacquards off couches to wash, figure hey I should flip the cushions anyway, vac cushions, flip cushions, see dustbunnies, start vacuuming and now I’m fucking deep cleaning the loungeroom with a detour to deep clean the dyson because someone has been using it past the MAX FILL line…

Well now I’m lunchbreaking with tzaziki, how you doing?

Yesterday I was having a micro nap on the couch. I was facing the wall. Woke up. Needed a pee. Put my dead legs down and there was an almighty squeal. The kid woke from the other couch. The man came running. Yeah I had stood on the little dog who was snoozing on the floor beside me. I don’t think he has fully forgiven me.

Still at work for a couple of hours. Looking forward to getting some stuff at Bunnings on the way home, then fixing the shower

Am also looking forward to sorting out the house (if I have the energy) as it’s trashed from end-of-year exhaustion

I’m glad i would never ever shack up with anyone at work because they’re not my type anyway so even my dumbest lizard brain wouldn’t go there. I am giggling at everything right now and I’m in bed in a dark room. This is stupid. Fucking margarita did me in. Pray for me tomorrow. Thanks. I’m not sure how I’m meant to go to sleep rn. wow. Maybe I’ll watch site inspections YouTubes until my brain explodes.

Is there anything better then flopping on the couch and listening to tropical rain pour down and knowing all the chores and work are packed up at the other end of the country?

No. There is not (at least for this little black duck).

5 days left until the big day. Now that I have a choice, I don’t think I’m going to celebrate. I was considering buying a roast or a ham and doing something with it, but I don’t think I’m really even interested in that. It doesn’t really make me sad or anything, but it doesn’t bring me joy, so it just seems like a waste of time thing that I do to make other people happy

New Year’s I’ve decided I’ll stay home. My entire life I wanted to see fireworks, but pre 2019 was complicated by loving in the country. 2019 I was too young, 2020 they replaced it with a “3 day food and wine tasting festival”, 2021 I got COVID and was too sick to go, 2022 and 2023 I finally saw them! But repetitive now I reckon. I’ll probably watch them on tv and might order in a midnight kebab or something for the same vibe

Mate you don’t have to do anything if you don’t want to, but be kind to yourself. You’ve had a big year and done more adulting than most people do in their entire lives.

I don’t like speaking on behalf of others but I will this time. We are all so very proud of you. Treat yourself to something nice. Make that a new tradition. Much love 💜

when I lived alone I would go to so many parties before xmas but on xmas day it was a just a quiet day. I liked the non stress I had not having the drama of dysfunctional family.

Can I add, running your own household and having your own chosen relationships is a bajillion times easier than putting up with other people making lousy choices and having a dysfunctional family. You’ve done the hard part already. So many hugs. 😘😘😘

You should do something small for you. Start a new tradition. If thats as simple as “eat a toasty and play video games all day” then thats awesome. As far as new years: yeah you see TONS more on TV than going into the city. The city sucks, and new years is even worse.

I haven’t actually gone into the city for fireworks before. Too busy and hectic for me. I have however gone into the city around 2am or 10pm to laugh at how everything is falling to pieces, though. 2022 was at St. Kilda, but I didn’t realize I couldn’t see the city fireworks from there (but someone set some off on the beach so it was all good). 2023 was at Williamstown Beach which was alright although when drunk people started screaming and people started setting off fireworks into the audience I decided it was time to bail

I thought I’d lost Miss Meow this afternoon, but she was just in my wardrobe snoozing on my socks. Escaping the baking chaos.
