This has always been a fascinating topic for me, atomic bunkers. A good book on the topic in general is ‘Raven Rock’ by Garrett Graff.

It goes into excellent detail regarding the US government’s overall ‘Continuity Of Government’ planning. The bunkers are a relatively small part of a very broad set of policies. Definitely worth a read.
