My argument has been that it’s misleading to the point of disinformation to characterize the aspects of the economy that disproportionately affect rich people as representing the economy as a whole, no matter how many authority figures perpetuate that falsehood and no matter how many people believe it, from the start.

An economy is the [entire] system or range of economic activity in a country, region, or community.
It’s the production, distribution and trade, as well as consumption of goods and services.
What’s your problem with that definition?
