It’s why I’m wondering why there isn’t a stronger desire within the fediverse to have some of it end-to-end encrypted. PixelFed is useless to me, because I’d only want to share photos with people I’ve added.
So far, I have not yet found a suitable non-abandoned project.
There is a certain “if Jim from up the street can read it, everyone can” factor.
But, on Facetube or Youbook, they know how long to the millisecond something is on screen, so not only what you’ve posted yourself but what you’ve paid attention to and how much. They’re watching you even when you think you’re not transmitting anything.
Should be “no known corporate” tracking or something along those lines.
By interacting with social media, you are creating a trail, such as I do now.
But in the fediverse, no known entity is granted access to that data as a business model or known force.
