Obama and Biden deported more people in their first terms than were deported during Trump’s administration.

It’s often a fact “both sides” don’t enjoy, but it’s still a fact.

Trump was super ineffective in implementing his horrible rhetoric. It took Obama a term, and some judgements and a settlement against what his administration was up to, to start treating people more like people. And Biden has been “business as usual” as he’s dealt with the influx of humans after COVID restrictions were lifted.

So two presidents in 8 years did more than one president did in 4 years ? That is the headline here ?

No? Why act so dishonestly and try to frame it as something it’s not?

Under Trump, from fiscal year 2017 to fiscal year 2020, the Department of Homeland Security recorded 2 million deportations

          And

During Obama’s first term, fiscal year 2009 to fiscal year 2012, there were 3.2 million deportations

Americans really need to learn they have a right wing and a far right wing party.

      1. The definition of deportation changed under Obama, making him have 2.5 million in his 8 years compared to Bush’s 2 million, under the old definition it would be a lot lower.

      2. Trump deported 1.8 million people total, Biden deported 2million. However, 2.3 million people were released into the country after being taken into custody, while less than 300k were under Trump.

      3. Biden’s administration has seen double the border hoppers as Trump’s administration did. Despite this he let Trump era border policies expire, making it harder to deport people. He also placed a hold on ICE arrests, deportations, and raids.

“Trump era border policies” that stopped people from seeking asylum inside the USA were based off emergency response to COVID-19. As that shifted from pandemic to endemic, the USA stopped its emergency response. So yeah, those asylum restrictions also stopped. Duh. Or do you think the federal government should continue using emergency powers to address COVID?

Besides Covid policies, he also restricted ICE and ended other Trump era policies put in place before covid. The big one used to turn the most people away was due to the pandemic and rightfully ended.

He also enacted tougher border restrictions and basically copied Trumps strategy which so many Dems thought was a genius move because now Trump couldn’t criticise him on it as if that was more important than migrants dying.

I think the main issue is the total number, even though more are being deported it is not keeping up with illegal crossings which have increased dramatically. I think the only real way to fix it is force cities that arrest illegal migrants to hand them over to ICE and expedite deportations.
