There is a whole industry around providing the chickens that people purchase for their backyards, and that industry has to sort the male chickens from the female, and then destroy the males. You canāt really participate in purchasing chickens without being involved in that aspect, which most vegans would object to, even if the chickens that live with them would be treated humanely.
