I picked a random spot in their coverage area and this is the plans it offered.

It’s an issue but its a pretty niche one. Even software that works great on most distros might misbehave when you have multiple desktop environments installed. And http_proxy use doesn’t appear to be standardized by freedesktop, LSB, etc. Though it is pretty well adhered to: https://about.gitlab.com/blog/2021/01/27/we-need-to-talk-no-proxy/
So yeah, I agree with the spirit of this but its tough to follow the standard when there is no standard
ehhhhhh no its a genuine issue to honor gnome settings when gnome isn’t running IMO. That isn’t the correct system/user configuration to load if you’re running under sway…
I’ll say it again
Did you even read the article? Do you have anything to say about the example discussed in it?
by cops… who are typically directed to do so by mayors… who are usually dems…
“these right wingers” are just predominantly brown leftists you disagree with. Did you even read the article?
If you’ve ever lived in a strongly blue major city for any length of time you’ll have seen this play out. Liberal mayor runs on big promises of reform, of progressive policy, maybe even of radical change, and a few years later there’s another incident, more unrest, whatever, and they’re first in line to have the cops put it down with force. There’s a whole interplay with right wing media and racist voters and other factors, but time and time again dem local governments choose to enact “law and order” overpolicing over solving the fundamental systemic issues causing violence, property crime, etc
this is disgusting
I would expect nothing less from a literal monarchy that hosts US military bases while claiming to care about palestinians, but still
hahahaahahahha
The pro-Traoré social media buzz took off following a protest in Ouagadougou on 30 April when tens of thousands rallied in a massive show of support for the 36-year-old military ruler. Smaller solidarity protests emerged in Accra, London and Montego Bay, Jamaica.
they literally say the online buzz followed after him being broadly popular in IRL rallies.
wonder how it is on aarch64, I might try it
This but democrats too

I can see how that would feel good, but unless they were selling ads directly to friendly companies (and even disregarding the fact that it seems unlikely there would be many/any given their anticapitalist bent), this would make the project almost no money, while annoying users and opening them up to a lot of criticisms and a lot of overhead work building it and keeping that system running. Plus the vast majority of instances would probably not willingly run ads to benefit the devs, either due to not wanting ads or political disagreements with the devs, so it’d be only lemmy.ml and some micro instances. A nominal donation of $1/month from users like you, who may not want to spend much but does want to support in some way, would make them more money than a years worth of browsing
liberapay is probably the best. For payments processed there by stripe the fee avg is around 3.1%, and there’s no additional fee to the platform. Patreon ends up being like 15-20% iirc when you add up all fees. Unsure about opencollective or ko-fi
this was a good way to find out my former liberapay had crapped out over a year ago. Renewed now, thanks for what you do
I don’t think that will work out well: https://lemmy.world/post/25415423/15694987
It really doesn’t
“israel” doesn’t need to control the US government for them to have a shared interest in genocide, colonialism, militarism. “Israel” has serious undue influence, but that functions as an internal discipline tool in the US establishment just as much as it serves “israel’s” interests. It’s tolerated, but ultimately the US holds most of the cards
I have noticed shows like this tend to be hard to find. There’s just a lot of them and less replayability I suppose than narrative shows. For certain ones youtube actually has a lot (jay leno and craig ferguson) due to dedicated archiving effort by fan channels but idk about Kilborn. If I find anything I’ll comment again
osmand uses openstreetmap, its just a polished up android version. Most features I’ve seen in an open source maps app although I think they were trying to monetize some parts last I heard. openstreetmap on its own is unfortunately a pretty rough substitute for google maps in a lot of common areas (its pretty bad for even looking up addresses), but it is still useful
my thoughts exactly. I’ll stick with sway
their own speedtest servers? first hop outside of their network? it is kinda silly in the abstract, but if you dig through enough FCC documents I’m sure you could find a consistent-ish definition
