MJ12 Detachment Agent
I am not the dev, I just share interesting tycoon/economic strategy games with other members of this community. :)
I have been following this particular game for a long time (4-5) years and I believe it is a custom engine.
You can get in touch with the dev here:

Posting to their reddit would probably be the easiest.
Until we see more in-depth gameplay videos, it’s best to remain skeptical.
Yeah Kingdom was very unique experience when it first released. Minimalist, but still very engaging and with interesting world-building.
I do get the impression that these days the devs are mostly re-skinning the game with a different theme.
Agreed, this does look like a slightly more complex Mini Metro and its sequel Mini Motorways.
The ability to pick real world locations seems like a game changer for a game like this.
I wonder if they will eventually expand to cover other transport types and becomes something like a modern “Cities in Motion”.
Good to hear that it’s a fun experience. I was thinking of picking this up.
They do say they will be ready in ~4 months.
FWIW, we already have multiple prison tycoon type games.
Pretty excited to try this one out, even though it doesn’t have any management features.
The dev does have a roadmap, but the next few releases are focused on the sandbox content component. I will speculate that if the game successful, we will have some basic management features added (or perhaps a management mode as an alternative to the mainline creative mode).
Fallout 1/2 are excellent games even by objective modern standards.
While the UI is a bit archaic by modern standards, it gets the job done. Late 90s UI/UX was noticeable better than what RPG games offered in the early and mid 90s.
Some elements of the gameplay are also subpar in hindsight. I find I have to cheese a lot of the early game combat encounters and get in pretty tedious kiting sessions (and even save scumming).
I bought Fallout 3 on release, but I bounced off it after a few hours of play. I’ve been meaning to replay it, but just haven’t gotten to it. New Vegas (technical glitches and limitations aside) is a whole different story though.
Me too! :) Love the retro visuals and that there seems to be novel approach to gameplay while still supporting high city population counts.
