Had to read the wiki to get this. A couple times, actually.

ArtemisimetrA@lemm.eeto Star Wars Memes@lemmy.world•May the 4th be with you, friends.English6·6 days agoAltogether the three equals less than one whole good film. They get close with the first two but the third is inexcusable. I counted: there are less than 5 shots that last for more than 15 seconds before a hard cut, even if it’s still in the same scene (I counted but also barely cared; I was just trying stay awake)
Well it’s not in the Merriam-Webster dictionary, but that’s just one source. I assumed they meant “excluded” because I’ve never seen “discluded” used… Ever?
ArtemisimetrA@lemm.eeto Science Memes@mander.xyz•The hills are alive with the sound of music! 🎶🎵English2·6 days agoJays in my area well fly around making eagle calls convincing enough to fool plenty humans (myself included). Multiple times I’ve heard that unique shriek and searched the sky for a big bird only to see a cheeky Blue Jay hopping around in a tree 🤣

Been hanging out with a girl, I guess you could say I’ve got a fun gal infection
Feel free to keep your soggy opinion to yourself
We have Vision Zero in the US, too. They lowered speed limits in a couple neighborhoods from 25mph to 20, and all the LED road signs show annual aggregated deaths from car crashes until the number is greater than zero, then someone wrings their hands and says “Welp, we did what we could, guess people just like dying” and then goes on vacation. (Source: me, I made up the spokesperson who gets scapegoated, but all the other stuff is observationally evident where I live)
This is the first one I saw

For the lives all so wasted and gone
We feel the pain of a lifetime lost in a thousand days
Through the fire and the flames we carry on!
Different video, they’re just eating a bat in this one, but there’s a video somewhere of two toucans sitting high in a tree literally just waiting for the bats to swarm close enough and when they do they get snapped up
OK but what about the video I saw last week of toucans catching and eating fucking BATS
I’d love to meet one of those few. A skateboarder eating that much krill has to be such an amazing spectacle
Spoken like a true mammal
Vaal Hazak may not be that far behind
OK I’m actually a noob at formatting and i have no idea how i even did that giant text
This is crazy in the context of having just finished the Native Tongue trilogy by Suzette Haden Elgin. Great read or listen, describes the world this person imagines.
This feels like a poor response to the “would you rather be alone in the woods with a man or a bear” social profiler. “Yeah but that bear is fat, would you really want to be mauled by a fat bear instead of violated and gaslit by an aLpHa MaLe?!”
Trade =/= capitalism. Capitalism is maximum enrichment for a few at the cost of the many. “Capitalizing on an opportunity” doesn’t usually seem to get interpreted as “get what I need and hopefully what I want in an exchange that is equitable, just, fair, and negotiable to all parties”; instead, the common meaning seems to be “get all that I can as quick as I can in exchange for the least possible expense on my part”, which is not even a full step away from 'The Tragedy of the Commons, ’ or, “if there’s not enough for everyone to have as much as they want or need, then everyone who takes as much as they need is evil, and if someone is going to be evil AND ALSO have enough than that person is damn well going to be me.” THAT’S capitalism.
But is it heavier or lighter than 9.1 kilograms of feathers?
