Gorgritch_Umie_Killa@aussie.zoneOPMto Perth / Western Australia@aussie.zone•Former WA Labor minister launches blistering attack on Woodside boss5·22 小时前“Meg O’Neill launched a quite disrespectful – and, arguably, arrogant – attack on young people for their views on climate change and, in particular, for their views on fossil fuels like the gas that is at the heart of Woodside’s business.
“I find Ms O’Neill’s comments disrespectful to the very real concerns that young people have about climate change.
“The comments also make it sound like Ms O’Neill does not take the issue of climate change seriously.
She acts like an arrogant Houston oil baron. The unforced disrepute she brings Woodside into should be grounds enough for the board to reconsider her tenure.
Dave Kelly MLA is right to remind Woodside of their social license.

So in my head i’s thinking if a problem resident is in a building like these, well maybe security guards can be stationed to keep things from going off the rails. But as i type this, the imagery seems more like a prison than housing.

Ah, my dreams are dashed!! Oh well, better call the dealership and cancel my Lamborghini order…

I find that all art is contextual, and that contwxtual story tends to increase my enjoyment of the art. I heard my thoughts on the subject descibed really well by Ernst Bloch recently. Episode #230 Hope as an Existentialism(Ernst Bloch)Philosophze This! with Stephen West

And, have we just stumbled upon a gap in the bro science fad diet scene? Is this our Million dollar idea!?!
Move over Atkins, its time tobtake the world by storm with the Sane-Gorgritch Diet! Or maybe it could be called the Lipids Delight?
Gorgritch_Umie_Killa@aussie.zoneOPMto Perth / Western Australia@aussie.zone•State buys another whole complex south of Perth for public housing3·2 天前I think the drive to deliver on targets might be getting in the way of more effective policy delivery here.
Social and affordable housing has been ignored for decades as an issue. Now we’re finally starting to deal with it, but these massive purchases? Doesn’t this risk creating a slum-like situation that works for no one?
Or alternatively, maybe these buildings provide effectiveness of service delivery in a central location, as well as minimising effects on lots more neighbours. I’m thinking of one situation i know of, of a family who moved into social housing near me and have made life very difficult for all their neighbours. To the point its become a reason, (not the only reason), some friends sold and moved.
I’m conflicted about this one. And i don’t know enough.
Gorgritch_Umie_Killa@aussie.zoneOPMto Perth / Western Australia@aussie.zone•WA government announce new 'post and boast' laws3·3 天前The sharing of material for legitimate purposes like reporting news and current affairs reports, complaining or warning about criminal conduct, or for genuine artistic or satirical purposes will not be penalised.
I suppose it’ll really come down to the court’s determination of legitimate purposes. I’d say there’s a lot of sensationalism presented by news and current affairs that shouldn’t be classed as legitimate purpose, while theres likely going to be protestors recording police interactions caught and muffled by this legislation. I think the courts bias towards power and the status quo will undermine the interpretation of this law.
Gorgritch_Umie_Killa@aussie.zoneOPMto Rage@aussie.zone•Australians Actually Love Home Grown Music And Are Keen to Discover More: Report2·3 天前The only other ways i know are Xpress magazine, or maybe RTRfm.
But discoverability is definitely a problem for smaller interest areas, i’m listening to the Dot Social podcast with Mike Mccue(spotify link) a fair bit today trying to figure out how federated/socialweb, social media could help special interest/local news coalesce in a more discoverable and user-publisher interactive way.
I put a link in the sidebar to Xpress mag along with a number of other Australian music focused “street press” publications i’ve found.

Some of the music-engaged are concerned that algorithms may limit the exposure of lesser-known artists. There is also a recognition of the important role radio – in particular triple j
I definitely resonate with the concerns around algorithmic led discovery. It really felt manipulative, and actually very annoying when i used to watch youtube. Its less of a problem on Spotify, but its still there. I’ve recebtly been looking for good sources for Aussie music, its harder than i expected.

So, no offence to the livestock industry but this means the rest of Australia needs to commit to alternative protein sources to drive that 11% share of emissions down from the outside.
This means the Government needs to be thinking and acting radically about supporting alternative competing industries like insect protein and the like.

That JP idea is actually good. Whats better it relies on a system that is already in place and has a high level of trust. A specific Social Media verification Government stipend would be needed for JP’s though, as this would become a massive initial, and largish ongoing increase in demand for their services.
