A middle-aged nerd from the UK. I like films and write about them, sometimes for Film Stories or my blog.
Have a great day.
I don’t know if this will be Madame Web bad, but the one trailer I watched looked like it revealed all the kills contained in the film. Should I bother watching what’s been left to fill in the gaps? It looks pretty naff.
The film was OK. I was a bit peeved all the cool action and the big weapons advertised in posters were all used and gone in the opening set piece. Then someone pointed out that the rest of the film is basically Aliens with zombies, and they were right.
The article says they’re where behind the scenes problems. I’m more interested in those now, sometimes more entertaining than the final film.
Agree on the soundtrack but having watched the film again recently, it’s not very good to be honest. :-)
I understand he’s trying to make a point by saying he wants to walk into a North American shop and pick up a copy but when you can purchase from all over the world, I think that negates the article.
Look at this comments on Day off the Dead(?) recently. He moaned that a 4K copy was available elsewhere but not in NA! There region free, it doesn’t matter.
I’ve said it before but to complete my Kevin Smith collection, I had to import from Spain, Germany and the US. That point sounded better in my head but hopefully you can see what I’m trying to say.
I’m not usually a fan of Disney stuff because of the songs/musical aspect, but I really like Atlantis because of the story and there are no songs! I think I became aware of the film because of Mike Mignola’s (Hellboy’s creator) work on the film.
Furthermore, I watched Titan A.E. again recently and apart from the banging late 90s soundtrack, in my opinion, it’s not a very good film.
Not yet, I’ll get onto it. 👍
They only mention it occasionally so I presume not every show it’s extended. I don’t want to subscribe and watch every single episode again! 😄
You could change the ending of Fight Club to match the book but I think that would piss people off.
From what I remember, only one scene of the book didn’t make the film, the narrator and Tyler original meet on a beach. Also, a running theme is that the narrator can’t quite remember how to make home made explosives, he keeps getting the recipe wrong.
So at the end, when they’re going to blow up the credit card headquarters, nothing happens because the explosives are dud.
Really, the problem the sequel trilogy had is that they didn’t know what to do with it. The Force Awakens ended up as a soft reboot of A New Hope, which is why we got a third Deathstar. But then they blow it up at the end of the first movie, which puts them in a bind as now they really don’t know what to do with the next two movies. What now, a fourth Deathstar? At least this would give some sort of overarching story for the trilogy, rather than the making-it-up-as-we-go mess that we ended up with.
Yeah, it’s quite clear no one planned out a story arc for the trilogy and it suffered greatly because of it. I really like The Force Awakens and I bought The Last Jedi for £1 to almost complete the set. I’m waiting to find Rise of Skywalker in a charity shop for 50p to compete the set, don’t know if I’ll watch it again though. 😄
I’ve been watching VFX Artists React (and all the other variants, animators and stuntmen) since the start and it’s been really entertaining. I’ve been wondering if it’s been worth subscribing to their website as some of the shows are extended.
If you want some classic old school making of material, there was an old Discovery show called Movie Magic which focused on one particular film every episode. Lots of behind the scenes stuff I had never seen before with material from 90s bangers as Cliffhanger and True Lies. Of course, you can find them on YouTube.
Having tried many of the alternative front ends, Photon is definitely my favourite when accessing Lemmy on my PC/laptop. I shall change my bookmark forthwith! 😄
Its ok, very 60s comic book feel with accurate costumes. Dr Doom, the costume was actually a surprise but my favourite is The Thing considering what such a low budget film it was.
If you have any interest in the film, I highly recommend Doomed! The Untold Story of Roger Corman’s The Fantastic Four which speaks to everyone involved. Great documentary.
I haven’t watched it in years, but I really liked where the story went at the end with the Skynet winning.
I’m hoping the UK gets a “normal” release of Twister. As much as I loved the movie, I really don’t think the £45 price is justified by a steel case filled with promo photos and other gubbins printed on card.
I saw this on release in the cinema and loved it. As soon as the US DVD was announced, I stuck in my pre-order. The only let down is that there’s not enough Eddie Izzard (as he was then known).
I remember the commentary track being really interesting as during the superhero tryouts section of the film, there’s a lot of cameos of friends and upcoming actors. The only one I remember is the superhero Eraserhead/Pencilman (sorry it’s been so long I’ve forgotten his name). Anyway, he’s played by Doug Jones who would become more famous for playing fantastical creatures. The fawn from Pan’s Labyrinth, Abe Sapien from Hellboy, Saru in Star Trek: Discovery and so many more shows and films.
Didn’t the pirates find out that they could copy the games onto regular CDs using some backdoor from the format of Karaoke CDs? You just need that famous loader CD to swap discs.
I’ve heard the pirates soon optimised the layout of the data on their versions so that there was less strain of the drive.
I don’t know if the network knew in advance the show was going that way, but reportedly, when they tried to work out the budget for a post apocalyptic TV show, it proved too expensive and that’s why they cancelled. Shame.
Living with a friend, in the first place after moving out of our parents places. He smoked weed but that didn’t bother me. However, one night he invited in the local weed dealer and I was really concerned but he assured me it was ok.
We both worked at the same company, so came home at the same time a day or so later to find the front door was open. They smashed the small decorative window which allowed them to reach in and unlock and open the door.
I can’t remember what they stole from my friend but I lost my GameCube, controllers and all the games. Also, my first portable minidisc player and a pair of cheap earphones I used with them which I absolutely loved. The wire was like string and rarely tangled.
I had a few imported US games and I thought they might give me the edge. I rang all the local game shops to see if anyone had tried to bulk sell the lot but I was unlucky.
53 minutes late! 🤣
