If we lived in a dream where housing was somehow always provided, sure. But we don’t. So what to all the people who don’t have savings for a down payment do if the only option is to buy? Not live anywhere?

Did you set the FTL drive to wumbo?
I bought a “mystery ticket” for $5 at a Regal and ended up seeing The Order. Pretty intense at times when you abstract to real life, pretty upsetting at times. Remember to be intolerant of the intolerant.
I have not been in a packed theater since Avengers Endgame. I have been to the theater dozens of times since then. Don’t go opening night or maybe even opening weekend. Most ticket sales at my AMC and Regal are prepurchased with assigned seats, so you can see what’s open and not blocked. You can move around anyway once inside. And all my local ones rebuilt the floor for a greater slope anyway
What’s the difference between profiting from stocks or profiting from rent? Either way, I’m increasing my spending power
Good job baiting me into reading the whole article. It goes through a whole lengthy explanation of the idea that a mini black hold could gut a body and leave it empty. The author finishes by asking if one could be in your house. The scientist says not that they’re aware of, but maybe nobody thought to look. May as well have asked the scientist if they checked their butt hole.
I thought Desmond was supposed to die in 2012
Well, you see, the blood was warm when it was spilled. Unfortunately, because the customer was in the 3rd tier SuperSavings Freedom Unlimited* HSA Semi-Preferred SelectChoice Healthcare plan, all claims require a 24-hour waiting period after symptoms erupt to allow rebuttal from the primary physician. The blood was only cold after the grace period elapsed.

Yeah, there’s that little legitimate concern that gets washed into the conspiracy theory. It’s gotta be intentional. Proponents of weather alteration bans can find lengthy descriptions of TINY weather modification operations to fuel the idea that chemtrails are real, opponents roll their eyes because obviously chemtrails aren’t real and brush off the idea that a part might be true, so they don’t even engage with the proponents.
This isn’t far from how I sort of broke out was a wedding dancer. I don’t mean professionally, I just mean not being too afraid to even stand on the dance floor and knowing I’ll probably rank somewhere in the top half of “trying their best” and top 10% of “having the most fun”. It always takes alcohol to loosen me up, but it took a series of events to break out the first time.
How? One year, I had 7 weddings to go to. The first was close family that was a bore for me. The second was friends of friends, about 95% of which I’d never see again in my life… And it clicked. I will probably never see 50+% at any wedding again, so why not just be a goof? Turns out, if you’re shy about dancing but surrounded by equally terrible dancers, they can’t really tell if you’re bad. Or I can’t tell the difference when inebriated. Either one, doesn’t matter, you’ll never see them again (you keep telling yourself). The following 5 weddings were better than any prior in my life.
After that, I started watching the people I admired as stars of the dance floor. I tried copying them. It’s not so much about having a library of moves so much as it is having a general body move, some arm flair, maybe leg flair for drops and choruses. And rhythm. Having timing is a big part. I’m pretty sure I don’t. From what I can tell, once I start bopping, my internal metronome takes over and runs 5% off tempo. But whatever, I’ll never see these people again.
That and getting a Halloween costume I can use year round for in-character bullshit. Just be who you want to be. The majority of people you meet don’t know the real you, so just do it. They don’t know you’re lying.
Anyway, this led me to an amusing sobriety test of sorts. It goes a little past just the dissociating nerves feeling. If I still think dancing is a good idea, it is NOT time for me to drive.
I don’t know if this rambling will help anyone, especially because I tend to sense a strong anti-alcohol vibe in these social activity posts. Especially because I realize part of this lowering of inhibitions comes from getting older. But it happened to me and it can happen to you’s
Appearance gets sales on debut, but I’m still riding on a trusty, utilitarian Ford Probe
Thanks, interesting. Does that occur in India as well? I suppose I can see the reasoning (Jaguar is made of thousands of people, so jaguar “are” deciding things as a group so plyralizing the verb gives identity to the individuals) but it still sounds awful to me. Then again, it’s all about sound to me, right? I’d still say “The Beatles are deciding” despite being a group name.
I’d expect a county map to more appropriately show the trend. Coastal cities can steamroll stats for a state with vastly disproportional representation. I would expect cities to have lower obesity rates due to increased travel by walking while deep rural counties to have higher rates due to driving everywhere, including on your own property. Perhaps it’s not California and New York that’s doing the right thing, but rather LA and NYC doing the heavy lifting. A county map could also pull in variation correlated to ethnicity of people (genetics, imported cultural norms) and ethnicity/variety of food available, too (can you get fresh fare or is it all McDonald’s?). I would expect DC to be more in line with other large metro counties.
Basically the same issues with the electoral college. States are big and not necessarily a good representation of human statistics. Counties may not be granular enough, but I expect it to be an improvement. I’m not seeing date marked results past 2008.
I have no relevant comments for Colorado, I don’t get it
In my experience, changing location changes results. The site will still have an American flair to it, but it had a different group of results when I traveled. I confirmed it later with a VPN. You would think some specific searches would always give the same results but, unfortunately, this is one of the sites that chooses to show related content (to create an illusion of overwhelmingly vast content while snowballing highly-rated content) instead of a more functional search for your exact request. I will also note that language didn’t have much to do with it. I’m guessing tags are translated so using a foreign word still brings you to the same category. Testing a mix of my language, their language, and adding nationalities to the search did not affect results nearly as much as being in the country (or setting my VPN there).
So while I don’t think it’s smart enough to look for an accent, I do expect the content to have more with the accent from local creators delivered in searches by way of regional preference over time.
There’s a hundred original movies shown every year. Just because they don’t have hype and general discussion doesn’t mean they don’t exist.
I live in dense metro suburbs. The theaters are empty at 2 weeks. Just bump up your schedule. Most tickets at bought before visiting so you cans ee the map of seats open
This game is intentionally designed to not be 100%able. It contains “missable content” and is part of its style
That sounds like you’ve tested this extensively. Ive never heard of this before. I have no further ideas. I wish you luck in avoiding polarized lenses :(
Am I missing some grammatical update that changes status verbs (is/are) to plural form when using a singular group name? “jaguar are doubling”? I keep seeing this across lemmy. Is it regional? American here, always taught “jaguar is” and “the band is” etc
No, this was Jude Law and Nicholas Hoult and it was released this year
