Is there something whooshing past me or did you not read the post? 🤔
I’m not sure if anyone has cursed in the comments here before either.
You guys are all so nice! ☺️
It wouldn’t work without all of you being such a great audience! I’m very thankful we all get to have fun together.
Should be hamberders instead of pistols as well, but he does look to have the heal lifts. Hell, the hat isn’t even too far off from the hair and the face has more orange than fleshtone. It seems to have more in common with him than I first thought…

It’s a shame we’ve heard more about Trump these last four years than we have about the actual president, as it does seem a lot of good was done, but most people probably wouldn’t know it as a pile of buffoons have been shouting over it the whole time. I don’t know if there’s been a single day in the last 8 years I haven’t seen his name or heard his ramblings.
I’m sad to be losing the protections that have been attempted for the environment and green energy, and the realization I had yesterday that we’ll be losing Lina Khan, who looked to have such a promising career helping the American people. There were a lot of flaws and oversights still, and the weak support of Ukraine and the situation is Gaza are pretty damning mistakes, but overall it felt like things had been going in a good direction from where we were with COVID and Trump.
As someone who went into the Biden presidency with extremely low expectations, I think he largely did good given with both what he had to work with, and with the expectation that something would have been done by the justice system to ensure Trump was kept out of office legally. I guess add that to the huge oversight list…
I’m left very torn on how to approach the future. If the left starts playing dirty like the right, I don’t feel that will get them to stop doing it. When both sides are just resorting to dirty tricks, I don’t know how we get a civil society back. At the same time, counting on norms and elected officials respecting their offices seems to be all but dead, at least if we wish to still to try combat some level of authoritarianism.
I would have much rather had a dottering old man eating ice cream and telling old anecdotes than anything coming our way though.
I forgot to ask if the hash tags federated properly this time.
I had first done “#superbowl #owloftheyear” as you had suggested last time, but it seemed to just make the font larger for the “superbowl” part while putting the hash on the OOTY part, so I just put in a spare hash “# #superbowl #owloftheyear” to make it show up in a way that looked correct.
Naw, that’s what the small owls are great for. We all have the one corner that isn’t quite square, so nothing quite fits there properly.
That’s where a Little Owl or Pygmy Owl really comes in handy! Just slap one of 2 in there, it fits great, and now that corner of the barn is as properly owled as the others!
Very true! I do my best to remind myself of that here. I’m no expert on anything, I just enjoy a lot of reading and looking at pictures and finding answers to questions that come up. Just because I’ve done more reading than the average person on owls, I still only know what I’ve read and have tried to verify as factual to the best of my abilities. Something things will come up and my brain will want to fill in the gaps of the knowledge I can find, and I just have to tell it to shut the heck up. I don’t ever want to give you guys info I can’t at least site a few sources for.
But each of us can only know what we “know” as there are so many gaps in everyone’s personal knowledge. There’s nothing wrong with that, as it’s impossible to know everything, but we do need to be mindful of our blind spots and not just assume we know what is there. That should be looked at as a new avenue to explore, not a spot to just throw a random guess and call it a day.
You can’t please people all the time. 😅
I try to ensure all the images I share are free range and ethically sourced!
I like picturing it on a windy day, swaying around every which way.
I’ve been getting a bunch of great stuff from this photographer lately. I feel the image being mostly blurred but for the owl really does a good job highlighting how owls like the Shorties can be so camouflaged, yet so boldly patterned at the same time. The colors of the foreground and background all really work together with the owl too. Just so many wonderful things to look at in what appears a fairly simple image.
I’m glad you like it!
There’s some really great snowy pics coming through lately. I’ve got a free more ready to go, and they keep coming in.
You guys are missing all the Facebook drama around them. It seems like many of the more amateur or non-photographer people keep getting in the contributors’business about harassing the owls , likely due to these pics being so good they assume the camera folk are getting close enough to disturb them.
As we’ve seen over some of the recent posts showing the extreme zoom capability these days, the owls probably are aware there’s people there, but they are not so close as to really disturb them.
It sounds like these arguments occur every year during snowy season. It’s good people are concerned for the safety of the owls, but at the same time, there should also be consideration of the respect they majority of the photographers are giving the animals while they still get the photos.
I just saw this movie a day or 2 after the election. I felt it would have been funnier had the outcome been different, but now it feels less like satire.
