    There are brain x-rays called pneumoencephalographs where they replace the cerebrospinal fluid with air, x-ray, and then put the fluid back. Pneumoencephalography and angiography were really the only neuroimaging techniques available for most of the 20th century, so it was pretty common.



  • A lot of regular bus services around the province are contracted out to private companies too. Translink runs their buses (Coast Mountain Bus Company) and BC Transit runs the buses in Victoria but all the other BC Transit branded buses are either run by municipalities (eg Nanaimo), regional districts (eg Cowichan Valley), or are privately run (eg First Transit in the Fraser Valley). Mutations causing p53 dysfunction are found in more than half of cancer cases.



  • Imperial (used in the British Empire) vs US customary. The imperial fluid gallon (4.54609 L exactly) was never historically defined in terms of another unit while the US fluid gallon was defined as 231 cubic inches (3.785411784 L exactly). A pint is defined as 1/16 of a gallon in each system, but they can’t agree on how many ounces are in a pint (16 for US, 20 for imperial).
