Hey, whatever works for you. There are many people who I’m friendly with, but I’m not friends with, and they can be useful to find out information about employment opportunities or other things like that. Whether or not you want to call it “corporate hustle poison” or networking, or just being friendly is up to you. If you refuse to be part of it, no skin off my back, but if someone wants to be part of it then that’s perfectly fine too. There’s nothing intrinsically wrong with LinkedIn, Facebook or almost any other social media platform. It’s really in how you use it.

If you actually read her posts (the ones I read in 5 min of internet searching before I asked this question), her message is basically (paraphrasing) “I support trans people’s rights to live as they want, but I value womanhood and take pride in my womanhood. As such, I want trans people to live as they want, but I want to keep the idea of womanhood separate because I value it as a space for women.” I’m assuming she said something much worse somewhere else??? … but that’s really a fucking lame thing to base all this hate on. Really, there has to be something more, right? Right?

ient dirty joke. Back in the day kids you could find collections of them in printed books, and later, entire websites solely dedicated to hosting thousands of dirty jokes. They were presented in story format, often happening to your cousin’s friend.

Clearly it wasn’t. The original post showed one manager being an asshole. OPs follow-up is that all managers are assholes. The leap and logic there is a relatively stupid way to view the world. It’s the same logic that says my sister is bad at driving, therefore all women are bad at driving. If you or the op want to have an immature view of the world, that’s your prerogative, but I’m interested in understanding at least the first level argument to be made for why all managers are bad.

That seems so weird. Linked in is simply a way to connect with co-workers so you can contact them when you’re no longer at the same job. I don’t have them in my Facebook, I didn’t have them in my phone, but if I want to contact them for connections or anything, LinkedIn is the place for that. How much you interact with the posting garbage is entirely up to you. I do it extremely little and I have no problem with LinkedIn.

It really feels like people hate on her way more than they should. Can someone explain to me where it’s all coming from? I read some of her trans statements and honestly they weren’t that bad. If feels too me like on a scale of 1 to 10, the hate should be at a 3, but it always seems to be at an 8 or 9. WTF?

It’s fine to have that opinion, but I wholeheartedly disagree. Often the thing you love about a show is the story and the characters and the world. When a good show ends, you often want more. More story, more of that world, more of that universe, more of those characters, etc.

The only thing worse than a bad story is a really, really good story that ends way too quickly. It’s like having one bite of a really good meal. I mean that bite was amazing, but fuck you for showing me what I could have, and then not letting me have it. I’d have preferred not having that bite in the first place.

As an engineering manager, I’ve already received AI cover letters. Don’t do that. They suck. They get “round filed” faster than no cover letter at all. It’s insulting.

Netanyahu is clearly courting Republicans with the assumption that Trump is going to win. That was the gamble that looked a lot more certain from his perspective before Biden dropped out last week.

Standard presidential strategy (pre-trump) is to “run to the center” once the primaries are over. Yes this is disappointing, but I’ll judge her by her actions. She also didn’t attend Netanyahu’s speech, but that could just as easily have been travel logistics or it could have been a snub to Netanyahu who is courting Trump and the R’s.

She’s not my favorite candidate, but she’s miles better than Biden, and Biden’s a light-year better than Trump.

I would rather pay an ad-block company a monthly subscription than give it to YouTube in blackmail. This will just be another salvo in a never ending war.

It wasn’t just one experience, that’s just the one that sticks in my mind the most.

I was also a shy dorky kid and I avoided social conflict and I didn’t care enough to dive into music and find what I liked back then.

Every time I’ve added my kids to my benefits, I’ve had to provide a social security number. But realistically, that’s the only documentation I had to provide other than their name and sex.

I remember saying “I don’t listen to music” in high school and half of college because I didn’t feel I could listen to the music I enjoyed without being made fun of. I basically didn’t listen to music until I was in college and I had space to explore what I liked and didn’t like without peer pressure.

To this day I don’t listen to music in front of anyone other than my wife and kids. I still remember the exact derogatory quote that a person I thought was my friend said in regards to me showing them some music I liked… from about 40 years ago.

That’s one thing I instill in my kids, everyone is allowed to like and not like what they want and they should not be made fun of for any of their preferences.
