One way to look at it is that “speed”, in km/hr, is an instantaneous measure. As you walk, you speed up and slow down; maybe there are hills or something. That’s not super useful to most people. What is useful is knowing “is this chunk of my walk/run slower or faster than the last chunk?”. Someone running a 10k wants to know their average speed for each kilometer. Someone running or walking a shorter race might want finer splits, but it’s convenient for comparison to still use 1 kilometer as the baseline because you have a better sense of what it feels like to walk a 12 minute km pace than a 6 minute half km pace, even if they are the same thing.

There are, in fact, deep conceptual flaws. There are a lot of grifters trying to sell ideas to fight climate change that can be easily defeated by high school level math. They try and spin the obvious shortcomings as “engineering challenges” where you could figure out a way to make it more efficient if only you invested in them enough. The math just doesn’t even check out at 100% efficiency.
Potential energy is m x g x h. Let’s do the math for the Burj Khalifa. The top floor is at 585 meters. According to their published fact sheet, there are 57 elevators, and the service elevator has a capacity of 5500 kg. Let’s pretend that every elevator has this capacity, and they all go to the top. It would store 5500 x 57 x 9.8 x 585=1.797 GJ. This is about 500 kWh, or about the energy used by 17 average American homes for a day.
According to wikipedia, the cheapest Tesla has a 57 kWh battery, so if there are 10 electric cars in the parking garage, they can store more energy than all the elevators.

Take a cooler, and fill it with water at the right temp. You can add boiling water or room temp water to adjust up or down. Depending on what you’re cooking, you can aim for a few degrees over to account for the temp of the food dropping the water temp. With 12 yolks, I don’t think it’s necessary. Then just stick your food in and close it up. Depending on how big your food is, how big/good your cooler is, you might want to check the temp a couple times throughout the cook.
It makes sense to me when a place is given an english name when the native language name is something that uses sounds or orthography that english speakers have a really hard time getting right. I’d prefer an attempt at adopting the native names even in those cases, but even anglicizing the place names still leaves the native connection to the place intact.

From what I understand, prostate cancer is usually very slow, and it’s possible to have a little spot of it for years that doesn’t affect you. For some people, the right answer to finding a prostate tumor is to just monitor it, but obviously, people freak out when they have cancer, and want treatment. Cancer treatments are all no joke, so it seems that you could sacrifice a lot to treat something that would have just chilled there not hurting you.
I have no clue about the blood tests. If it’s like a “yes or no” for prostate cancer, it might have that same disadvantage. If it tells the Dr something more like type of prostate cancer or growth, it’s a different story.
I would talk to your doctor about it for your case specifically rather than advocating broadly for prostate cancer screenings.
Medical authorities usually don’t advocate for getting imagery like that as a screening tool without any relevant risk factors or symptoms. Everyone has stuff that is unique and weird about their bodies but completely benign, and chances are, it turns up in an MRI or CT. This can end up leading to unnecessary invasive procedures to remove or biopsy something. The odds (in the literal sense) are that not-called for screening leads to either worse outcomes or the same outcomes as people who didn’t get the screenings.
I didn’t look up a source for MRI specifically, cause that’s pretty broad, but here’s a report that does a good job explaining it for prostate cancer screenings. The logic is the same.

I’m no font nerd, but it looks like they are trying to use a font like fraktur or another type of “germanic” blackletter font. Theme parks and such will use them to evoke a medieval look, while they are using it as an attempt at an “aryan” esthetic.
I have friends with one of those valves on their shower, and it’s really easy to use. One thing I wonder about is how it effects things down the line. They have a septic tank, but I’m also thinking of greywater systems for watering plants or whatever.

The main problem (in my opinion) is that industrialization of food happened after Native American and Anglo-American food systems combined. (And that combination was enforced by the displacement and confinement of Native Americans).
There aren’t many restaurants providing Native American food as it was eaten 200 years ago. Similarly, there aren’t many restaurants providing English-American food as it existed 200 years ago. Most foods we eat could not have existed back then due to things like selective breeding, long distance shipping, and refrigeration.
These advancements changed food all around the world, and many foods were invented that couldn’t have existed before. Later waves of immigration brought new foods to America that were already part of industrialized food.
Many foods that Native Americans ate long ago are part of what is just considered “American food”. Just look at the list of vegetables that came from the americas during the Columbian exchange.
With the rise in “farm to table”, I think there has been a bit of resurgence in Native American food, it might just not be labeled as such. You do have people like Sean Sherman who are really advocating for food that is explicitly Native.
