My mood improved considerably after republican lawmakers started opposing his appointees, he clearly won’t be able to accomplish as much harm as he wants to with a splintered faction.

Tbh my faith in humanity wasn’t high enough to ignore the aggregate polls to start with. Can’t be disappointed if you have no hopes.

Sucks for climate goals, poor people, and minorities but I’m hoping to ditch the USA soon if I find an opportunity.

  • Neat context for the term: Ballers and Ballin was derived from Ball Players who were the target of envy for early rappers and disadvantaged african american communities in the 80s and 90s, the term became synonymous with wealth, and then later could also be used to describe gangsters who were well off. A great example of the latter would be hit videogame Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas 2004 who displayed the most prominent gang to be the Boulevarders or Ballers for short, while a more ambiguous example would be the hit single song Wanna Be A Baller by Lil Troy in 1998 which describes wealth but not clearly its source aside from the implications of slinging drugs.

  • From what very little I know about Myanmar it seems like both coalitions of many smaller sides claim to want democracy.

The one that existed before the military coup had a 2008 constitution which gave each individual zone autonomy but the insurgent military wanted to tear up that constitution and make a federal governing body.

I kind of wonder if this is just another proxy war and we’re unfortunately pushing other people into conflicts for the benefit of one of the three world powers.

  • A large number of Americans prefer to get news from Cable TV. Especially the elderly and poor.

The biggest cable news network by a huge margin is Fox News with more than double the second place, MSNBC, views.

CBS isn’t on Cable, it is a Broadcast TV network but it is among the highest rated broadcast channels, even higher than Fox News, due to CBS also covering sports.

So while CBS is less popular as a news network, 60 Minutes is the most popular News Program in the USA.

In 2013 Pew Research said “About one- quarter of American adults, (24%) watch only Fox News, 23% watch only CNN and 15% watch only MSNBC.”

And here’s some additional graphs for further enrichment of your contextual info
