hopesdead@startrek.websiteOPto Daystrom Institute@startrek.website•Why did Richard Daystrom get a research organization named after them?English4·6 hours agoI didn’t notice this before but in Alpha canon Daystrom Institute was founded in 2256, before TOS. So this speech doesn’t make sense. The writer probably didn’t know that either.
EDIT: I need to clarify that this information is from “Chose Your Pain”, so it came along after “The Ultimate Computer”.

Considering he didn’t understand as a child that staring at Bulma naked was not appropriate, I’m not surprised he doesn’t know what a penis is.
EDIT: Yes I read that conversation as the voices of Christopher Sabat and Sean Schemmel.

Gene Roddenberry was asked to give an example of network notes. For context, just know Gene was a Humanist. He framed The Bible as if it was the script for a television show. Everything pretty much would have been deemed inappropriate.
I know we tease people in modern times who would criticize Jesus of Nazareth for how he has been historically known, but it is wild how a religious text would not been deemed acceptable for 60s or 70s television.

hopesdead@startrek.websiteOPto Daystrom Institute@startrek.website•How long would a shuttle from Earth to Vulcan take?English2·6 days agoYeah, if you go back and watch the video I posted on YouTube, the welcome message that plays when you’re in line specifically says shuttle. It would’ve made more sense if they were runabouts but there’s no evidence that runabouts are even used during the period of Picard season 3.
Based on what I can remember from DS9, runabouts are faster and generally used for longer trips.
EDIT: Is the Federation even adhering to the warp five speed limit anymore? I know it doesn’t get addressed after “Force of Nature”, but is there anything suggesting that the speed limit has been dropped completely by the 25th century?
EDIT 2: The site I linked says 28.19 days.

Stiller is a big TOS fan (doesn’t seem to have watched anything else based on interviews). He named his production company Red Hour.
EDIT: I do not like Zoolander.

I thought since he liked TNG and wine, he’d share it with me. Wasn’t to his liking. He told me to finish it fast. By the end of the week it tasted awful.
EDIT: There was sediment at the bottom of the bottle which formed.

Daystrom Institute is UFP, not Starfleet affiliated. Hence why those who work at Daystrom aren’t Starfleet.
