More on the name of Jesus Christ and the alien abduction phenomenon here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvAsSer5ZTw
i don’t have a podcast client. i may find a way to use yours
i think the generalization doesn’t do justice. back then and now there’s witchcraft, mystics, religious zealots and everything inbetween. ps. For me, being scholar doesn’t tell me anything about someone’s ability to believe the promises of Jesus and living them
I’ve met enough people with personal experiences, both before and after Jesus happened to them, which supports what the New Testament writes about Jesus and the spiritual realm. (so no theory, theological debates etc, but personal experiences).
So the podcast won’t change my mind, but you can pass me the link to podcast.
i guess you’re not really interested, because in the recording of Shoefoot which i gave, he actually shared about what his ancestors knew.
You call John a forger. i wonder what ancient recording exists which you would take for credible/when something old would be credible to you.
in any case;
The Israelites were instructed in Mozes law to have 2 or 3 witnesses to establish credibility (that’s around 1500 BC):
Deuteronomy 19:15 One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sinneth: at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established
Even though that may not be water-tight, i don’t think there’s another way to establish credibility in those days.
I realized that the New-testament part of the Bible is actually composed with that rule in mind to establish credibility. As in
The above is shown in this picture:
Ok,
But at least; Yanomamo Shaman Chief Shoefoot(the link i gave) said that about his own tribe’s spirit worship(the spirits being demons). He also shared what their spirits did, and how Jesus set him free.
More than that, Jesus said he’s the only way to the Father
John 10:7 So Jesus said again, “I assure you and most solemnly say to you, I am the Door for the sheep [leading to life]. 8 All who came before Me [as false messiahs and self-appointed leaders] are thieves and robbers, but the [true] sheep did not hear them. 9 I am the Door; anyone who enters through Me will be saved [and will live forever], and will go in and out [freely], and find pasture (spiritual security).
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
And He gave promises too;
John 14: 11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake. 12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. 13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. 15 If ye love me, keep my commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
It’s not only outsiders making those claims of worshipping something lower than God. e.g.
i’m not here to judge them upfront. like i said, it collect all of them which fit the experience and let the viewer decide what to conclude.
i agree that the lady in this video isn’t very convincing, because in her story she doesn’t convey the details of how deep she was into spirit-contact and how they manifested, and where/how the experience went astray from the masses. (there are other testimonies who do share that detail)
But if i gauge you correctly, you wouldn’t believe people sharing about their contact with spirit-guides anyway. So no matter where the experiences lead you would all take them for lunatics, and give yourself the credit for being critical.
an idiot says that is clearly not true,
There’s no science to prove it right nor wrong.
Jesus says:
Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear. (explained)
and:
john 6:45 It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.
There’s no forcing.
i actually wrote the whole thing to show that your
I like that anybody can say anything and you automatically believe them without evidence as long as they say the magic words, “I am a Christian.”
is backward towards how the botscript works. But nothing i write seems to land
The bot behind this sub doesn’t search for christians with some theory. This bot searches “testimony <problem>” and after receiving results from youtube it tests if Jesus was mentioned in the description. Coincidentally, it’s never buddha, vishnu, allah or whatever who are mentioned in such youtube testimonies.
That’s how this sub found 40K testimonies. So it’s not a one-of.
Regarding standards; i’ve spoken to quite a few people in trains etc, and have obtained many 1st hand stores of supernatural experiences. in that regard i’m not interested in 2nd hand stories, because i can’t ask for details. And the more stories i’ve obtained, the more patterns i see.
Once at my work after sharing another story, a colleague asked; if all those stories of people you meet were true, then why isn’t there anyone on our department with such a story. Then after he came back from coffee he wanted my answer to which i told him that people don’t want to be told they’re not thinking clear / irrational or being told what they actually had experienced. On this department there are 2 people with interesting stories, but they probably didn’t share it with you, because you would make them out for a fool. Then half a year went by and something came up to which i replied; do you remember what i told you half a year ago (which he didn’t so i had explained him again). Then he said; well, at least it wasn’t Henk. (he mentioned Henk because he’s the most analytical programmer/rational thinker on our department. funny thing was; one of them with a story was actually Henk.
What is illogical to me is; To dismiss the outliers. They may have gone deeper into yoga than the majority. If you check such video’s you’ll realize they weren’t biased and went in to the practice with 200% commitment. Have you taken the time to check the search link i provided?
Realize that, seen historically, the majority is te group stopping progress of insight.
Those few who made the difference in the past were sentenced to death on the burning stake.
No.
Actually, the lady in the video wasn’t even a believer of Christ to start with. Just like most of the people which testimonies appear on this channel
What, beyond sharing a religion with these hundred or so people, makes you believe a word they say despite being anomalies within the data?
Basically because imo, 1 - The masses hardly ever find something out. it’s the minority who do. 2 - The only deity in person to appear helping people in life threatening situations turns out the be Jesus the Christ. This community searches for ‘testimony <problem>’ on youtube. This script never finds buddha or vishnu saving people from suicide etc. So, these about yoga aren’t far fetched. 3 - Across the board, spiritual practices take another turn when Jesus appears(see all other topical searches)
There are actually many people who were deep into yoga who found out that their spirit-guides were not what they were pretending to be.
That community lists hundreds of such: (i adjusted the search in the sidebar for for your homeserver)
I’m using lemmy as a link aggregator. Archiving peoples experiences where they were in trouble and they had a life altering experience. Even many unbelievers are change I an instant.
Regarding covid; I guess you haven’t been following the more recent publications.
Please block any channel you’re bothered by.
At 1:04:18 he says that on the day of judgment there will be one guy with a strong voice from Jordan (a jordanian) who will say to all arab nations that Jesus is the way.
Original testimony:
Maybe you noticed on this sub,
it lists many people from any conviction, who, when they had nowhere else to go, found out God lives.
(like this girl at 24:50)
but i’m not defending churches or religion. That’s something else.
Hi,
i see you’re on lemmy.ml. it might be that lemmy.ml doesn’t have this community properly synced.
If you’re interested, the direct community link is https://lemmy.staphup.nl/c/selfie_testimonies
The first few pages are pinned posts to give an idea of the wide spectrum of testimonies
