You’ll have to forgive him. Decades of torture has had some… unexpected effects on O’Brien.
For the record, you brought this upon us all.
I’ve run across the question of how to break into Who a few times. Tried to come up with a list of introductory episodes: one that explains the basic premise, one light-hearted, one scary, one message heavy, yadda yadda. But each time, I’d always come back to “The Eleventh Hour” as the best foot forward.
“You’ve gotta respect everyone’s beliefs.” No, you don’t. That’s what gets us in trouble. Look, you have to acknowledge everyone’s beliefs, and then you have to reserve the right to go: “That is fucking stupid. Are you kidding me?” I acknowledge that you believe that, that’s great, but I’m not going to respect it. I have an uncle that believes he saw Sasquatch. We do not believe him, nor do we respect him! - Patton Oswalt
Might not be an issue if they’d included other known methods of lab rat testing.
It’s an aquired taste. Very helter-skelter between actors/show-runners/decades. Meant to appeal to a younger crowd, but also occasionally nightmare inducing.
Edit: if I may make a recommendation, watch the episode “The Eleventh Hour” (series 5 episode 1, from 2010). Matt Smith’s first full episode as The Doctor gives a solid primer for what can be expected from the show as a whole.
And then there’s the one [formerly] from Gallifrey.
He became a master of disguise. Surprising that they hadn’t considered the ability until late into the series.
Edit: I understood what I was playing off of. Just the ole multiple personality switcheroo. Not sure where the downvote stems from. We may require another doctor to assess the situation:
Maybe not that one.
Now consider that this is viewed as an improvement over where Disney was before reshoots/retooling.
Coulda saved a few headaches if The Doc’s alter ego simply played by the rules of villainy.
VOY s3e18 “Darkling”
You weren’t kidding.
That’s just exhaustion from carrying that sack of potatoes.
Forgot someone.
