That being said, they only solve problems that I don’t have. I do not care even the tiniest amount about whether a system is declarative or not, and I’m definitely not going to go out of my way to seek them out. If you want to call that “out of touch” then so be it.

Don’t be ridiculous. We have an oligarchy, not an aristocracy. Sure, there are a few names that pop up in politics a lot, but the real power isn’t even in the government. It’s in the corporations. The point is there are elections, and as much as they are rigged against the people, if you can get enough support from enough people you can get the government to do the right thing, even if it doesn’t want to. That’s intentional. The oligarchs want to screw us as much as they can, but they don’t want to get the guillotine if they go too far. This system lets them push their luck safely, and if there’s ever enough support to threaten them things get better until that support dies down. It’s a shitty system, but it’s the one we have, and if you think the guillotine was a better one you need to read up on the French Revolution a little more.
Socialists were douchebags to the liberals because they didn’t take the threat of fascism seriously while the liberals faded into irrelevance and had no other option than to try team up with the fascists to try to convince them to be less fascist. It didn’t go so hot, and the socialists ended up in concentration camps. How’s that? We don’t have to worry about that so much here, because their are no socialists relevant enough to matter in national politics.
Do you seriously think that fascist violence would be limited to just nutjobs acting outside the law in a fascist regime. That ain’t how this works. There’s a reason I brought up the US army. It wouldn’t be the first time they were brought in to end strikes. The simple fact of the matter is that the difference in military power between the army and socialists has only gotten more and more cartoonishly unbalanced as time has gone on though.
Liberals will not side with us here in the US. You would know that if you ever talked to any. They’ll fight the fascists on their own, and honestly I think they’ll probably win if it comes down to it, but they probably won’t even bother to use us as allies to abandon. We’re not even important enough in the US for even that level of indignity.
If the US could just peacefully implode in a time where the world wasn’t facing a massive wave of authoritarianism and an impending global warming crisis it would be an objectively good thing. We don’t live in that world though. The consequence of a US civil war right now would be billions dying in the streets, not celebrating.

It is correct that the Democrats raking in the money for doing nothing by pointing out what the Republicans would do if they gained power. They’re not wrong though. Republicans would do those things, and as long as we don’t let anyone who is actively threatening to do them win an election they won’t happen. If it happens for long enough eventually the Republicans will either get sick of losing and give up on those things or fade into irrelevance and the Democrats will split. They don’t care what we want, but they do care about power, so making the things they want incompatible with gaining power is the only way to defeat them. Don’t feed me defeatist do nothing bullshit and call it activism.
