Long, sad story short, Microsoft bought Minecraft while C418 was working on a third set of songs for the game. But Microsoft wouldn’t honor his existing contract with Mojang (C418 retains ownership of all of his music). So Microsoft hired a bunch of other artists to make new music (all really good, but not C418). Due to legal issues, C418 cannot release the new music he wrote for Minecraft in any capacity without losing ownership of it. So it all remains unreleased to this day.
Apparently, a few of the tracks slated for “Volume Final” were already in Minecraft’s Aquatic Update. So part of the albums has been heard by the public. The rest remains vaulted. But it looks like C418 is looking to release the music in the future anyways. That 15-minute ambience track sounds amazing.
There’s a volume Gamma? 👀

Nobody’s heard it besides him? It’s not even on piracy sites?
