I’ve seen both electric and petrol motors disassembled, a modern combustion engine is a massively complex piece of equipment, with insanely tight tolerances, and hundreds, if not thousands, of moving parts, and will absolutely self destruct if a critical component fails.
An electric motor, on the other hand, has one moving part, and can run continuously for years without maintenance.
As long as the bearings are maintained, motors that don’t experience shock loading can run for a long time.
I remember a motor that had no maintenance done on it in 2 years, it only failed due to the dust build up causing it to overheat. That is ~17500 hrs of running, without any maintenance at all.
Holy shit what a dumbass.
