An idling gas engine may be annoyingly loud, but that’s the price you pay for having WAY less torque available at a standstill.
1 trip a year taking an extra hour is not going to happen for most families, much less my personal travel. You are deluding yourself thinking most people are okay with spending 20 minutes at a charger (assuming there’s no wait). You can’t handwave it away.
I took a 6 hour trip with my mom, sis and her kids halfway across the country to hit the beaches earlier this month.
I have a diesel car, I could have done the trip both way without stopping at a gas station. I still stopped 20 minutes both ways for a coffee and snacks and stretching my legs.
The charge time is an absolute non issue.
Yet, people still say it’s a barrier to buying an EV. They must be making it up.
