Going to give a weekly discussion/recommendation thread a chance based on some interest shown by community members. I’ll try it out for a few weeks to see what the engagement is like. If it’s too slow, I might change it to monthly starting September. Feel free to leave some feedback here as well if you want.

I finished the new Batman: Caped Crusader over the past week and unfortunately found it to be pretty mid overall. I do think there were a few episodes in the middle where the tone and the writing clicked in a way that was quite satisfactory but yeah, fairly disappointed overall. It also bothers me that the animation is often fairly subpar. You would think a Batman show by Bruce Timm would get the necessary resources needed to wow but maybe that was an unfair expectation on my part. I think I’ll probably not watch season 2 unless a lot of people I trust are praising it.

Catching up on some of the Tomorrowverse films. Justice League: Warworld was not good. I couldn’t even really tell you the point of the film. The whole premise of it is just poorly executed. Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths – Part One was pretty good though. I think it might have been better if the events of the first half had been it’s own film1, but the second half was genuinely engaging and had some great emotional impact at times. The music was also surprisingly good imo.

I’ve been watching the 2011 The Looney Tunes Show for the first time over the past few weeks and man what a great show. Genuinely some hilarious antics and Lola Bunny in particular is just delightfully unhinged.

Spoilers for Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths – Part One: 1

The first half covers the formation of the Justice League through Flash’s perspective. Having that be its own movie would have been better and help us get attached to the world and characters more before the Crisis happens.
