Hi everyone! I’ve been using Jellyfin (and Findroid) for quite some time and I really love it. I’m constantly contemplating how incredible it is to be able to self-host such a cool project!

The little itch I want to scratch now is having a client for laptops with an offline mode feature, similar to what Findroid offers for android. Does anyone know of such a client? It would be awesome for train/plane trips to no longer have to manually copy the files over for offline playing!

You can download movies and shows right from the webUI, (as file downloads in the browser) but aside from that, there’s not been much work on syncing stuff for offline play.

That’s something only Plex ever implemented, and before you consider setting it up for this purpose, it’s apparently buggy as hell nowadays.

Before I get on a plane (and when I’m too cheap to pay for the in-air wifi) I’ll download directly from Jellyfin onto my device before getting on the plane. VLC will play just about anything that you’ve got running on Jellyfin from there.
