Well I’m quoting one of the main spokespeople for Ansar Allah and they do regularly beat up fascists
Ah okay an authority figure said it, I guess my experience is wrong then.
there’s a reason why you didn’t gouge their eye out there’s a reason why you didn’t piss on them
Yeah cause it would have been a massive escalation for what they’d done and I do not hold that tremendous capacity for violence. It wasn’t out of empathy or anything. I bit a hole in their cheek though, serves them right. Had I done what you’d said then I’d probably have been institutionalised, which would have sucked.
I have beat up plenty of fascists though. I feel good about having done it. Not out of any sensation of feeling as though I’ve left them fearing me, but out of a sensation of having exerted righteous retribution.
You’re not above the laws of power that govern revenge. Nobody is ❀◕ ‿ ◕❀
Thanks for the weird condescending tone here at the end, really sells it. I’m not saying I am. I am disagreeing with the statement as being a universal law.
Exerting violence is pleasurable for a great many people - There’s a reason cops do it all the time. It makes people feel powerful. I am thankful I didn’t feel good about dishing out violence, but I will not lie and say I did not feel good about punishing people who I felt deserved it. Idealism serves no one and lying about how things actually are only makes them harder to treat and handle.
There’s a reason we don’t just let victims decide what the punishment should be, even in socialist states.
