Is this any good? Trails has been on a downward trajectory for a bit for me. Stale storytelling, nobody ever dies, no resolution for ouroboros, too many tropey characters, and just phoning it in for Daybreak. Does this course correct any of that?

The fan reaction I’ve come across from those who played the game in the original Japanese or a third-party translated version has been mostly positive. Daybreak has reviewed slightly better than others in the series, but you’ll have to wait a couple weeks for broader opinion to shake out.

I can tell you firsthand that for a series that’s notorious for few on-screen deaths, this one goes out of its way to indicate a change of tone right away. I don’t know what “tropey” means, but if you mean anime/manga cliches, then yes, that’s not likely to ever change as it’s been from the beginning of the series (and most of the genre, for that matter).

        Thanks.

Anime cliches is exactly what I meant. And you’re correct that it’s been that way from the beginning with Estelle and Joshua doing the whole not-legally-incest thing. Daybreak just piled them all together and you could group them like these are all the tiny women that are computer and technology experts, there are all the tiny women that are deadly murder machines, there are all the rebellious ones with hearts of gold, there are all the sex pests, etc., and it really made things feel flat.
