Friday was the last day of operations for the once-popular tourist attraction that successive Progressive Conservative and Liberal governments have allowed to deteriorate for years.
I absolutely do not want my tax dollars going to promote alcohol competition. That is absolutely ridiculous. Wasn’t the whole point to make alcohol easier to access?
The bottle of pop at the gas station is easier to access, all the snacks and drinks there are twice the price as the grocer. Why do we need a different attitude towards alcohol?
I’m sad that even among leftist observers there was very little debate over whether “making alcohol easier to access” was a terrible idea to begin with.

The Ontario government is willing to have the tax payer cover 10% the cost on all alcohol sold outside the LCBO so companies can compete with it

I’ve mostly only ever felt alcohol was hard to access when I was too young to buy it.
