    Brace was ranting about this on a recent trueanon episode (about Luigi I think. His influences and such) but basically there’s this large group of Americans (specifically, probably other places too) that sort of “aim for the middle” of politics… without ever taking into consideration, really, what they are picking the middle between. So as the country has gone further and forever rightward for 40-50 years, the “centrist” target has also moved rightward.

    Bombing Palestine into rubble or invading China are “normal, centrist” opinions

    Having the same healthcare system every comparable nation has… is a radical opinion. Perhaps even a terror-plotting opinion now(!)

      Exactly, the whole notion of treating the status quo as a reasonable default is just the anchoring effect fallacy. These people basically think that the system they grew up in and internalized is just how human society is organized, and any deviation from this natural and obvious default is a form of extremism. They never examine how the system actually functions and whether it makes sense or not.
