Summary

During a House Oversight Committee hearing, Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) repeatedly shouted an anti-trans slur despite objections from Democratic Rep. Gerald Connolly.

She defended her remarks by attacking transgender rights and dismissing criticism.

The outburst drew condemnation from LGBTQ+ advocates and political figures, highlighting her shift from previously supporting LGBTQ+ rights to embracing anti-trans rhetoric.

Mace has used the slur in past statements and introduced legislation restricting transgender rights.

You’re wasting your time. I got banned from somewhere else earlier for talking about this. They are so unbelievably sensitive that you can’t even type out a word in a conversation about what words count as a slur without them taking that very discussion as a slur. Zero thought from them as to how that might become a problem down the line.

They don’t see any difference in saying a word while discussing the word vs using the word directed at someone with malice. They are incapable of understanding any nuance in language.

Yeah it makes me think of how Samuel L Jackson always has to defend Quentin for always using the N word. Reporters always wanting to say he is racist. They just don’t get it. Its always about context. Even Stephen King uses that word in his books even today. Banning words or saying don’t ever use those words is a slippery slop. We can’t run around calling for freedom then ban words.

Unless its nazi then that the only exception in my mind. But that because nazi shouldn’t exist. But I will just leave it alone. I am a supporter of the trans community, especially since I personally know several trans people and will fight for their right to exist. Anyone who thinks ill of me or thinks of me any other way don’t jack shit about me.

Who is more grown up? The people who are able to have calm discussions about controversial words without losing their minds or the people who can’t even type out a word without having a meltdown?

Seriously do you guys even own mirrors?

I enjoy talking to lots of different people on a variety of different topics.

Other people have different perspectives than mine and while I often won’t agree with them I am happy to hear them.

I personally believe that in order to be a well rounded person you need to be able to discuss a wide variety of topics with a vide variety of people. If you only ever surround yourself with people that already agree with you on everything you aren’t exactly challenging your own beliefs very often now are you?

Okay, so that all on the surface sounds noble enough and like a good faith stance. Until the very end, where your personal comparisons again come through in an attack. Again.

So, let me put out where I’m at…

Trans people are pretty much hated and harassed at all corners of the internet. Called slurs openly now in the government BY elected officials. They just want to live their lives and not deal with the bullshit. I’m not saying a lot of them are sensitive or overly sensitive, but a truly mature person should see when a beaten dog doesn’t want to play and leave it alone without getting mad at it. The fact is that you either don’t get that or refuse to leave it alone with understanding. They banned you so you would go away. You continue to antagonize and demean people who demand respect.

To put it into perspective, imagine you asking a group of black people what the slurs are for black people. Ridiculously insensitive.

That’s why I think you need to grow up.

Edit: yeah I looked at your comment history. You’re a troll, that’s why you’re here. I see that you really AREN’T here for good faith conversation. I won’t be responding here any longer.

Huh? I didn’t make any personal attacks in that comment you’re responding to.

I am not a troll. Simply because I don’t align with your viewpoints doesn’t make me a troll. I am having honest conversations and holding firm on my beliefs. I do genuinely enjoy discussing these types of things with people who are willing to do so, but like yourself people here tend to just dig through my profile and make a bunch of assumptions about me without even asking me any questions.

You do whatever you gotta do. Have a good day.
