Debt increases, we get no new programs. Minnesota’s debt increases, they get free school lunches, healthcare products, etc etc. Not really a convincing argument presented here or anything to even have a conversation about.

I don’t know of any satellite company in the U.S. that does free service, used to be able to hijack a signal back in the day with some sketchy equipment but that’s basically not a common thing anymore. We do have free broadcasting with a digital receiver they switched over from analog a little over a decade ago (info). At the time they gave out free receivers since most tv’s weren’t compatible so a lot of people just never made the switch. Real shame too because they added a lot of channels with the change and I thoroughly enjoyed the upgrade (each channel got sub-channels as well so there was a lot more airing/to choose from).

I mean honestly that’s how it should work. If they’re writing and publishing disinformation that’s not in the “fiction” section then there should be some kind of regulatory backlash (same with news/entertainment etc). It’s like letting someone re-write history textbooks… but I suppose that’s been going on for a long time already.

I could also see them banning outside links for patreon etc if they’re trying to take over that space and get a cut. Huh, guess they’re not happy just getting money from user content, they might feel like they deserve part of the creator’s profits as well.

The scariest part about this whole thing, you’re a nurse. You know, a job that takes compassion and understanding, the ability to work with other professions and a team setting. Where you’re not the soul care-provider for a patient but work in unison with others, this was the profession you chose to go down after constantly hating working with other people in school?!?

This is your post, people have come on here to contribute and engage. A simple level of decorum is expected but instead it’s hostility all the way down. You could’ve dispelled the previous members comment with factual information but you took the time to belittle instead of disengaging. You’re a nurse with social anxiety, did no one in your entire time of training discuss bed manners? How did you avoid any actual understanding of what a nurses day is like (socializing) until it was too late? You literally just had to have one actual conversation with someone to find that out.

If socializing and navigating people was easy for you, this wouldn’t be a problem. Again, this is a weakness that the group projects hoped to tackle. Learning how to engage and speak to people, finding out what their strengths and weaknesses are, learning how to encourage someone in their work versus constant discouragement because “you’re just not doing it the way I want you to do it”. Having the ability to get over yourself and let the group finish at the GROUP’s pace, not your own. Is it a control issue? Are you just not confident that anything will get done unless it’s the way you see it? Has nothing ever gotten done without your direct input in this world? Is there a way to resolve the inner-group conflicts without the need to involve outside interference (teacher/management).

Those are all reflection points that occur in an active group project. You did yourself and the others in those projects a disservice by not recognizing and addressing them. “the teacher forced me to work in a group with the lazier ones and I ended up either doing most of the job or became as lazy as them”, maybe the teacher was hoping to hone some leadership skills in you they saw. Instead it was an “all my way or nothing” decision like you’re constantly making now. You also reinforced in the other students, with your mentality, that they could control the narrative and either have you do the work or no one does the work (which might be happening now in your workplace). Again, that’s a socializing short coming that you’re not picking up on.

You do realize socializing is more than just gossip and political leanings right? That’s just the facade of socializing, people just want to be heard and know you’re willing to think of them as more than just another worker drone and they actually matter as a human being who’s navigating this crazy world. It’s part of being a team, respect for the individual, the small human personality stuff. I’m assuming you don’t care about that though, it’s just too much hassle with your short comings and how you’ve wired your brain.

I do imagine there’s a perfect client out there for you, someone who doesn’t want to talk and just needs you there for the job and only wants one full-time nurse. It would be like winning the lottery chances of luck, but I would rather see you and the person you’re treating happy if you can’t get over your issues.

There is now a very common and mainstream change in approach to how those subjects are viewed (for the better). One could argue that at some (vaguely gestures throughout time) point in our history there was a “social contract” but due to greed and consolidation of wealth, it’s no longer the standard.

Some would argue that “work-ethic”, which benefits the ruling class more, is antithesis to “family-values” at this point in time. I would argue that the terms are abused too often for actual debate, what we admire is dedication and focus regardless if you’re in an office or raising a barn. Corporation loyalty and exploitative consent often gets mixed up into the definition which the majority don’t agree to so there’s push back.

So are you actually looking for advice and opinions from different mindsets or is this just an opportunity to vent and belittle anyone who doesn’t have your “ethics”. You claim you’re a smart person but you completely missed the whole point of those group projects in school.

Sweet, ty for the info. I would imagine some people might have a picture of a loved one or maybe a note of importance (a regular object would seem distracting from the purpose you described). But, that might be taboo since anything that takes your mind off focusing on the target could hamper performance.

For an example of how it should go: I was a young buck in the earlier 2000’s driving after work going across several states. Got way to tired and pulled over. Few hours later I was woken up by a state trooper questioning me (probably the most disoriented I’ve ever felt waking up without a sedative in my system). Explained my situation and he gave me a business location a mile up the road where it would be safer for me to park and sleep because the police monitored the building at night and he would let them know I was there. For reference, I was not a minority and had a decent car at the time.

I’ll admit that having an account on the .ml instance was a little jarring at first. I had another account on a youtubers instance he graciously opened, but I was getting connectivity issues constantly so chose .ml because of it’s size and before knowing all the controversy.

My first negative experience was like !Perfide@reddthat.com, I commented in a post making a winnie/xi joke which was removed and it was the first and only mod action against me (that I know of) so I was a little miffed. For like a day I contemplated deleting this account to move to another instance, then I actually read my comment and looked at the post and realized I was the one being childish.

Since then, I’ve had actual conversations with people regardless if they align with my political views or not. I now focus on making sure my comments have substantive meaning (when it’s about domestic/foreign politics) that actually engages the conversation or adds to the discussion. Regardless of it’s content, it’s been quite nice for all the hateful and joke comments to be less. A lot of cringelords on here don’t want that though, it’s like Reddit all over again in that aspect. If any of them actually had a substantive critique or could openly debate then they would quickly realize what comments are inappropriate and a mod might second guess banning someone who looks like they’re breaking instance rules.

I live in the U.S. South so it’s extremely relevant for me at this time. I’m surrounded by the right wing, bathed into it everytime I go outside or flip on the radio. It’s such a weird disconnect that people can recognize the GOP as a cult, indoctrination at birth, supported by a horrible education system and a defunct family dynamic that excludes anyone stepping out of line. Yet, there’s non-stop calls for violence against them in general and a constant tightening of the RED VS BLUE in the form of quips and rhetoric making it harder to have any actual conversations with the individuals. Regardless, I’m just grateful for the conversations I see with actual information on policies and discussions of the merits without the need to name call or belittle each other.

Definitely understandable and your choice if you want to put yourself out there like that to be judged. I tend to focus more on political leanings with family since it’s more my area of effectiveness. I will say though, that the more exposure to “dirty little commie liberal” ideals they see, the more it might seem like not such a far-out there idea.
