Summary

New York Mayor Eric Adams is facing scrutiny for his apparent shift to the right, aligning with Trump’s immigration policies and suggesting cooperation with mass deportations.

Critics link this to his federal corruption trial over alleged fundraising abuses, speculating Adams is currying favor with Trump to ease legal pressures.

His hardline immigration stance, including deporting accused (not convicted) migrants, has sparked backlash from civil rights groups.

Analysts suggest Adams’ moves aim to secure re-election by appealing to centrist voters and adapting to Trump’s incoming administration.

Adams hasn’t ruled out switching parties.

It’s not a rightward drift. He was a Republican until he realized he’d be more likely to get far in New York politics if he said he was a Democrat.

He’s always been on the right, he just lied about not being on the right for a fairly brief amount of time. Sadly, enough people bought into the lie.

This is the same man that traveled to Latin America and told people that “there is no more room in New York”. As if being a mayor of a large city was enough to stem the tide of migration. And, during the same trip, he tried to court Mexican tech companies and told them to move to his city.

Sorry, no room for people with needs, only people with money are welcome!! What an egotistical jackass

Thank god the party is a big enough tent to accept corrupt Republicans.

      Progressives can still get fucked.

It’s a shame. Silwa created the Guardian Angels. That, coupled with proposals for universal basic income, protections for the homeless, ending tax breaks for MSG and other wealthy organizations, and animal rights, should’ve given him an edge. Unfortunately he ran as a Republican and had to go all “refund the police” leading up to the campaign.

Adams was a Republican in Democrat clothing just as Silwa was an Independent in Republican clothing.

This is just like Tulsi Gabbard and a slew of other Democrats, which is why it’s important to hold the party and it’s leadership accountable rather than just being sycophants that support anyone with a D next to their name. Too many Democratic voters refuse to listen to any sort of criticism against party members and this is the result of that.

“Shit, I’m guilty as hell and will definitely be convicted. I should appeal to the guiltiest, most corrupt MFer I know. He’ll be happy to help me.”

including deporting accused (not convicted) migrants,

What the fuck? I understand the real reason he’s saying that, but how does he justify it as being for the benefit of NYC?
