Apparently, it’s been a year since the “Great Migration” and my intrepid decision to give the Lemmy fediverse a go. Since dabbing my toes into what has since become a creative outlet and hobby for me, I’ve found a fair few friends and like-minded enthusiasts for our favored franchise. Thank you all for still putting up with and encouraging my silly nonsense! May we all carry on until we greet the Koala (or get crammed into the pattern buffer), having OD’d on Ketracel-white next to Rom and an over-caffeinated Janeway!
Eulogy comprised of a rousing “Faith of the Heart” rendition by Kevin Riley.
🎶…Don’t come around here no more…🎶
This was the first thing I thought of when I saw that episode.
Very happy you’re here! You’re one of the people that make this sub so much fun.
Seconding this. Love the star Trek memes. Even got my son into it.
Cheers!
Its been a pretty good year.
You say “Intrepid Decision”, I say “The Coffee Machine Was Broken And It Was Dark And Clown Guy from That Voyager Ep Was Launching An IPO”…
I do not miss that clown’s antics. Either one.
I haven’t watch that episode in ages. I know he was supposed to be Fear but at no point was I able to suspend my disbelief. My brain settled firmly on, “oh hey look it’s Michael McKean.”
Thanks for that anxiety fuel, wtf is that thing on the left with the giant teeth?! Justin Trudeau lookin mofo over there MERCI NON
That would be The Spectre
Played by Carel Struycken
I didn’t recognize him without the luggage.
One year on Lemmy for me as well. Thank you for all the memes. :)
Tranya ferments so well in the crawlspace behind McCoy’s office. Consistent temperature plus patience and it’s happy cake oven time.
I can’t not think about Clint Howard saying that word when I hear it:
Okay I’m totally going to need some Sealab and Star Trek crossover memes now.
It’ll have to be TAS, naturally. I’ll make a note of it.
Hell yeah 😆
Second that.
For medicinal purposes, of course.
Data’s dreams aside, no motherfucker better ever give me cake with mint frosting. Giving me toothpaste cake is a good way to end our friendship for life.
It can be done well. One year, my son was into mint chocolate chip ice cream, peppermint patties etc and wanted a mint cake for his birthday.
It took a while adding mint drop by drop and taste testing but it eventually worked. It tasted like a giant green mint girl scout cookie. ( That was the basis of the recipe I worked from.)
It’s been about a year for me, too. I never engaged in the Trek community “over there”, but y’all are a fun set of folks here. Cheers!
Slàinte!
Thanks for sticking around. I for sure appreciate the crazy amount of quality contributions not only to here, but Lemmy as a whole. Here’s to more years!
Cheers to that!
My contributing mostly happens in the anime community on Lemmy, but I’m so thankful to you guys.
Whenever I need some variety I come find a corner in tenforward to sit down and browse, and instantly my trekkie heart feels right at home.
Than it’s been a year for me to! I’m not the kind to make friends but for sure I would never stay if there weren’t for the whole star trek community!
I love the memes, I love to read the conversations. Every day they light my face with a smile if only for a moment!
This is really great!!
Happy cellular peptide cake day!
Back atcha from a much less prevalent (on lemmy) sci-fi fandom.
Context
Context for the image requires spoilers from The Witch From Mercury, the latest entry in the long-running Gundam franchise.
Also, nested spoilers work. Neat.
Actual spoiler
The prologue ends with a 4-year old joyfully singing along to happy birthday with her father, while said father sacrifices himself to allow his wife and child to escape the politico-corporate slaughter of a research lab. This is reprised later in the show when a 17-year old sings happy birthday to a friend over the PA, not knowing that the friend was getting incinerated elsewhere because his usefulness as a clone pilot had ended.
Proselytizing
Any Trekkie who isn’t all-in on the ANIME BAD bandwagon, I implore you to give Gundam a try. There are a variety of starting points (as with Trek) and I’ll be more than happy to field any questions.
I love Gundam, but not for the right reasons.
Terrible reason
Lumberjack Gundam Canada’s fight against Desperado Gundam Mecixo.
I know everything about it is wrong, but it’s both awesome and hilarious. I’m so sorry.
I, uh… ahem. I’ll have a piece of that, please.
