Many anticommunists are undoubtedly going to suspend their horseshoe theorism to defend celebrations like this one by insisting that the Soviet Union was worse than the Axis, and that many Eurasians had ‘no choice’ but to collaborate with the latter, so it’s O.K. for these Europeans to honour Axis collaborators while destroying Soviet monuments.

It is a helpful reminder that my work is necessary. Many otherwise educated adults believe that they understand Fascism and can explain why it was wrong, but it quickly becomes apparent hearing them speak or seeing them write that their understanding is really quite shallow.

I would fully expect this casual erasure of anticolonial Jews from conservatives, but seeing a presumable socialist take part in it almost enrages me. Don’t anti‐Zionist Jews deserve a chance to be heard, instead of being dismissed out of hand with fake statistics like ‘99% of Jews are Zionist’ or some other bullshit excuse? I’m tired of it.

I had not heard of that particular work (which I now have thanks to you), nor was I aware of all those details, but I was aware that the Nuremberg trials were half‐assed, especially towards the end. John J. McCloy and to a less extent Leon Jaworski sabotaged the already inadequate trials because the Allied anticommunists considered us to be a far more important threat than the Axis and its surviving personnel.

There was a point‐and‐click program that mainly took place in a spaceship, and another one where a character said ‘I brush my teeth before I go to bed every night!’, but I’ll be damned if I can find videos of those.

I’m surprised that they made handhelds! I was always under the impression that Soviet video games were more like experimental curiosities than a visible industry. The situation was similar in the Anglosphere back in the 1950s and ’60s: there was not much of a market for them, so they were hard to find (unless you were a computer scientist).

Okay, no more sarcasm: what do they get out of this? Seriously, what is the point? I know that this sounds pedantic, but I have seen with my own eyes how the misconception that the Third Reich exterminated six million Jews through gas chambers alone has made it easier for militant anticommunists to deny the Shoah. I also feel like mentioning that while the Fascists did refer to Jews like Herschel Grynszpan and Theodore N. Kaufman as justifications for antisemitism, the Axis’s motives for committing the Shoah were more complex than those.

It helps to think of imperialism and neoimperialism as parasitic relations between privileged states and unprivileged ones. Beijing is almost certainly expecting some mutual benefits in the long term from its investments, but I have not seen anything suggesting that said investments are highly conditional or designed to keep the recipients dependent on them indefinitely.

That is what distinguishes the PRC from neoimperialist régimes like Imperial America, which value immediate returns and bully unprivileged states (e.g. Panama) into submission when they try to grow independently.
